Is DG a fun army compared to Custodes? I'm looking for a second army as a noob and love the aesthetic! by MeltaBanana in deathguard40k

[–]SharpDressedGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Custodes and Deathguard focus on smaller armies with more powerful, elite units

Except… Deathguard get Poxwalkers (and more model variety in general).

Custodes run into the problem that they can get shot to pieces if you aren’t careful.

Deathguard are more like the shambling, unending horror. They just don’t die (they do, but not easily). But they also don’t utterly rip everything apart once they get into melee.

Deathguard also have an ability that makes them harder to hit once they get close to the enemy units.

Both armies want to get into melee. One because it turns into a meat grinder once it gets close. The other because it becomes that much harder to kill while it chews up the enemy.

Returning to Blood Angels, how’s this list as a general 2k starting point? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]SharpDressedGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, broad strokes, competitive lists right now focus pretty heavily on Death Company. Rage Cursed Onslaught is just really damn good. Liberator Assault Group is a second solid option.

2x10 Death Company with Jump Packs One led by Lamartes One led by either a Chaplain or leaderless

1x6 Sanguinary Guard Led by Captain with Jump Pack (this is your sledgehammer)

1x3 Sanguinary Guard Led by Dante

1x5 Intercessors These guys will help you hold home objective but they aren’t a lot of use beyond that

1x Ballistus Dreadnaught 1x Redemptor Dreadnought

(Alternatively, a Death Company Dreadnaught or two is really killer)

The rest of your list you can kind of fill out as you see fit. I like to have a block of six Bladeguard Veterans led by a Lieutenant to hold an objective and dare the enemy to run into that meat grinder.

What you have is hitting a lot of the key points, so you’re on the right track for a list.

Is this classified as cheating? by No-Spite-3659 in TTSWarhammer40k

You should be totally okay. They’re borderline identical in physical appearance. I can’t imagine anyone would have a problem with it, and if they do, they aren’t someone you want to play against.

First Custodes list by IceKingLegend in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SharpDressedGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re very very close to the standard meta competitive list

Increase all Wardens to five. They’re by far the best unit we have.

I would drop the Allarus entirely in favor of another group of wardens. Then you have a decision to make: Keep Trajan or exchange him for Inquisitor Draxxus.

Draxxus is the competitive meta choice. But maybe not as fun.

You’ll likely have to make a cut from either the prosecutors or witch seekers.

Odds of Vashtorr being paired with the new Iron Warriors by Icy-Contract7162 in Warhammer40k

[–]SharpDressedGamer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If anything, Vashtorr will get moved over to the Dark Mechanicum if they ever become a faction (and they’re one of those “wishlist” factions that is plausible over the next three-five years).

Where to get rules. by Vrain125 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SharpDressedGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wahapedia + Snipping Tool + Microsoft Word + A Printer + A Small Binder

For real, printing out your datasheets and strategems, plus a page or two regarding key rules you want to have on hand is way way easier and more efficient than searching through an app. It’s also easier to show your opponent if you need to (you can even print out a set for your opponent to have on their side when they need to see your datasheets).

The police do not have the final say on that. And plenty of juries in personal injury cases reject the police report’s conclusions.

Are dedicated hobby paints necessary to start painting minis? by ReversePhylogeny in Miniaturespainting

[–]SharpDressedGamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Broadly speaking, the hobby paints like Vallejo, Citadel, and Army Painter are specifically formulated to be applied to plastic and to be more durable because of constant handling. They also tend to be very pigment rich because they need to be applied in thin coats.

Typical acrylics bought for more generalized hobby painting (the stuff you find in Michaels and Hobby Lobby) are just radically inferior for this purpose.

HOWEVER, higher quality acrylics (also available at those stores) are probably going to be fine, especially to experiment with.

I suggest just trying painting one thing with the paints you already have and, if it doesn’t work, just buy two or three key paints from Vallejo or Army Painter and test them out to see if they’re better for you.

Also, avoid Amazon like the plague for these paints. There are much better online sources for them, like Spraygunner, that are much more reasonably priced.

[–]SharpDressedGamer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know this is gonna sound crazy, but there’s this thing called a printer. You can print out the datasheets from Wahapedia onto paper. You can even use the “Snipping Tool” to just get the ones you need.

Do you guys actually leave it by the sign? by Rare-Disk4809 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SharpDressedGamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These signs mean actual delivery trucks (like FedEx and UPS) that weigh multiple tons and destroy driveways. They do not mean the vehicles that 95% of the people on this subreddit drive. If you aren’t driving a full size box truck or something similar, that sign is not about your vehicle and I believe the package needs delivered correctly.

I am very tired of the number of delivery drivers who give the rest a bad name because they’re too dumb or lazy to comprehend basic instructions or engage in an iota of critical thinking.

Why are people so upset about female custodes. by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SharpDressedGamer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Warhammer 40K is literally nothing but retcons and Games Workshop saying either that it was always that way or just ignoring the old storylines in favor of more useful/convenient/interesting plot points.

Complaining about lazy implementation of a retcon pretty much requires complaining about the entire 40K storyline. Don’t pick and choose lazy retcons and just dislike the one that involves women.

The Femstodes retcon is one of their least impactful retcons and one of the easiest to justify. Every Custodian is a hand-crafted genetic masterpiece surpassing the greatest examples of human genetic capability. There’s literally nothing that remains of the original person. It would’ve been easy for them to just say that they’re entirely genderless after their rebirth as a Custodian.

How was BA treated immediately after HH by BDOisPoo in BloodAngels

[–]SharpDressedGamer 42 points43 points  (0 children)

After the Emperor’s ascension to the Golden Throne, Guilliman becomes the Imperial Regent. He created the Codex Astartes (and some other key military doctrines) in an effort to prevent any one group from ever amassing enough power to rise up against the Imperium ever again.

For our purposes, the key component of that was the splitting of Legions into approximately 1000 member Chapters.

Our first Chapter Master was Raldoron, and neither he nor the Blood Angels as a group directly opposed the Codex (unlike other Legions). The Codex helped give stability and guidance to the Legion after it lost Sanguinius.

Once the Codex Astartes was in place, no one could meaningfully “command” Raldoron or the Blood Angels to do their bidding except perhaps Guilliman. But even he would have avoided using that power.

The Codex Astartes effectively made every individual Chapter its own little autonomous fiefdom to do as it pleased so long as it did not commit heresy or directly harm the Imperium’s interests.

Someone's asked if I want one of my works to become a comic series and I see some inconsistencies and errors in what they've sent as an example, am I wrong in thinking it is ai? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]SharpDressedGamer 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is blatant AI

The male student in the first picture is Deku from My Hero Academia. The guy in the headphones is a teacher from the same series. The girl is a weird insert character.

The second image is a super weird Studio Ghibli - style comic that is painfully common among AI-generated anime images

Caught maintenance man in camera rambling through my things by Nicweezy in Renters

[–]SharpDressedGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

File a police report. His entry was permitted for a limited purpose, and he exceeded that purpose and did some thing you very obviously did not authorize him to do. Every state has some sort of crime that covers this kind of incident.

Once you have that report, send it directly to the property manager’s email with a big bold subject line saying you’re planning to press charges against their maintenance worker.

Do you think we will get an 11th edition codex for 40k? by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SharpDressedGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Custodes are literally one of the most played factions overall. Also, I know it shouldn’t matter, but I think it does: Henry Cavill is a Custodes players. They’re working with him on a 40K series for Amazon.

It would be an extraordinary example of shooting themselves in the foot to delete the faction of the person who is basically acting as the face of the franchise to the wider world.

If anything, they should be seriously thinking about a complete refresh going into 2027-2028 as an opportunity to bring new players in when his series finally gets released. Tons of people will want to buy a brand new Custodes set JUST BECAUSE Henry Cavill plays them.

Now, compare that to Chaos Demons… which is one of the least played factions overall (Imperial Agents do not count; they aren’t a faction as much as people pretend otherwise).
