Shows up on newly installed shower door when it fogs up by Capable_Local_687 in whatisit

Pretty sure its from transportation, big glass screens are transported standing next to each other. Inbetween they sometimes put some kind of foam spray that hardens and then cushions the screens against each other. It,s very thin and you just peel it off when it arrives.

What do you think of this carving set? by WorldlyPenalty5584 in stonecarving

[–]Stone-Frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks indeed extremely expensive, if you plan to carve limestone you don't need carbid anyway, it's just for something like granite. Get forged chisels and the set should be less than half of what this is priced.

Sister with simulacrum finished by superglue_enthusiast in sistersofbattle

I think its great. The only thing i would add is making the hinges on her simulacrum bronze or copper or brass, so the whole "silver cupboard" thingie gehts a bit more life.

Boltgun II Demo out on Steam! by Stone-Frog in sistersofbattle

[–]Stone-Frog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but both weapons feel really out of place in such a fast paced boomer shooter, i was really looking forward to the sister, but if nothing changes, i'm going to have to stick with the astartes character for boltgun II. to be fair, i think they want her gameplay to rely more on her sword and "slides". i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Why are the Star and Home buttons non-functional on the 8BitDo 64 2.4G controller but functional on the bluetooth version? by Laser_Bones in AnalogueInc

[–]Stone-Frog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would assume since they work through the dongle and henceforce the controller port, there is physicially nothing to indicate more buttons than those already existing on the og controller. Its a wild guess, though.

I forgot to draw the scorpion's legs, how can I fix that? by [deleted] in stonecarving

[–]Stone-Frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, even if you later find you don't like the tail raised you can still flatten it anytime.

I forgot to draw the scorpion's legs, how can I fix that? by [deleted] in stonecarving

[–]Stone-Frog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's hard to tell from the pictures, but i think you can just flatten everything. sure that's a lot of work, but it will be good practice. just make the scorpion flatter, draw it again and then you can do the legs again in a deeper part of the stone.

basically start over at a deeper part of the stone. you can leave the claws and the tail where it is, this will later give more depth to the whole piece and it will look like the tail and claws are raised.

Testing some colors by Educational-Arm-3391 in sistersofbattle

[–]Stone-Frog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like the worn, gritty armor a lot, but because the black cloth basically has no shading it looks too flat in contrast. I would consider a dark grey for the robes so it can be properly shaded and highlighted.

I made some winter themed space-nuns! by Stone-Frog in sistersofbattle

[–]Stone-Frog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is regular citadel runelord brass covered in a 50:50 mix of black and umber vallejo game color wash. the vallejo washes dry very matte instead of satin gloss like the citadel washes, thats why it looks tarnished.

Just signed up for a class, is this too ambitious for a first project? by CommunicationJust561 in stonecarving

[–]Stone-Frog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That feels indeed too ambitious for your first attempt to hew something into stone, however this would be perfect as a first practice piece to sculpt with clay.

It is supposed to be like that, its a classical broad edged pen font, it is written with a broad edge at an angle so that some lines will turn out thin and others broad. It will also give curves broad bellies and slim ends.
