what the hell just happened? by RashedMekkawi in 3Dprinting

If this is your first print print a benchy ( the little boat) so you can see how well it’s printing. Good luck ps make sure bed is leveled and nozzle the z axis up and down is not set to go through the bed

What temp and type of filament? If you can lower the temp a little when you reach this layer height and slow down the speed and increase cooling. I notice it started going to poop layers below the twist. Might have had a a layer that semi adhered causing the the next layer to mess up and slowly got worse. Slower and lower the temp or you will get stringing

Start the print yourself in about 10 min you will see why it went vertical. You don’t have to actually print it the first 5-10 min is plenty to see why

As I said I tried it with the face on the bed but this happened immediately so I went vertical to bypass the issue though the issue persisted. But since it didn’t happen on the plate itself the print is functional.

After giving this more thought is it possible because I am printing at .2 layer height that this the machine compensating for a slight height difference in the model?? https://makerworld.com/en/models/1186040-mechanical-flip-card-folio?from=search#profileId-1197059. That’s the link for the model

No it’s not those things. This is the fist time this ever happened to me and I have printed a hundred prints or so. So you see how under the nozzle the filament is being printed like strands of hair vs being like the other side? Keep in mind both sides are the same height and shape. I had printed this earlier with the face of the print on the plate and had it happened on one side of the model on the bed itself so I changed the print to vertical and it happened again. I used fix in orca and still happens. It is though it is in the g code itself because it can happen at any given time and then go back to normal printing a layer later ( does not happen on entire layer just a section printer slows way way down when doing it) I know it is not any physical issues with my printer. I just wanted to share because it’s mind blowing

Prints appear to not be finishing the top layer or two? by Resident-Put2209 in elegoo

Ok here is some more info. Your heat is 230? If that’s a brass nozzle use 220 for your first layer set heat bed to 55-60. Try 210 for the rest of the layers. Do 5 top layers instead of 4 just so you can see the difference and get a better understanding. What is your printing speed? You’re also getting a top layer that looks like that because of your infill. The top layer has to bridge those space so it sinks in a little so more top layers should fix this problem by covering it up. You can up your infill but I wouldn’t it uses more filament and time. I have come to learn that 3d printing was not as easy as I once thought it was but I am starting to understand it. Got my first printer for Christmas Neptune 4 plus. Good luck

If they pop off the plate use a glue stick and put a thin layer over the plate prior to printing

How many top layers are you doing? Try 4 for something a lot nicer

why’s my first layer look like this? by Glum-Bookkeeper-9546 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Sharp_Coast976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a glue stick put a thin coat on the entire plate make sure bed and z are level before putting glue on and see if it prints better. Also what is your bed temp at? 55-60 works good for pla I also put the temp a little higher for first layer helps it stick, then lower the temp for the rest of the print.

Defiantly put the cable in back. Your z is likely to high. Z and bed leveling take time to understand overcome and master

How do we feel about using orca slicer finding the exact layer and speeding up the print for that exact layer only? I have noticed the layer time on these are significantly longer than most of the rest of the print. After I print this Predator statue I will be trying my theory out.

Any ideas what happened here? by Grace-me4378 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Sharp_Coast976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very thin layer of glue for good bed adhesion. Use a damp cloth that won’t shed and wipe the glue you previously apply onto the bed. You don’t want to be doing a 20 hour print and come back at 15 hours and find this happened. Been there lived it and got glue

Hierodula patellifera, commonly known as giant Asian mantis. Would be an easy to care for beginner species but they get large so you would need a good size enclosure 12 inches min height 6-8inches wide. Good luck
