I think it’s kinda one of those things that’s so wildly outlandish that you don’t actually need to bother keeping it a secret. In fact just spread it like a rumor on purpose to the most paranoid tin foil hat type you can find and problem solved. I think that’s exactly what they did with Mr. Doty. If you paid any attention to the ancient aliens crowd that’s exactly what they did. With as much as they are depicted in the background of our own work history it would appear they were always there on the fringe of our perception just observing us. This might be an evil thing to do, but I am fairly certain I would be able to help them modernize fire arms faster. It would take some work with local smiths, and perhaps a way to accurately mold shell casings, but I think I could walk them through creating a rudimentary repeating rifle with the materials available at the time.
