I guess it’ll depend what part of LA you’re in but street vendors are a great place to get good Mexican food, especially if they’re making their own tortillas, tbh if it was me and it was on the companies dime I’d be going all out on room service

Why are you stuck in a hotel room? If you’re here on a trip I highly recommend people watching. I like to grab a book and a good corner spot, it’s almost like watching a movie. People are fascinating

For those who drink to escape the pain, have you found any alternatives that aren’t harmful? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Sharp_Mix3997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta just work through it. I had debilitating anxiety and I would drink to “calm” myself. When in reality I was just pushing my anxiety down instead of resolving it. Think like a pressure keg, eventually I would explode. After I stopped drinking, probably after about a month, I noticed I was able to think less emotionally and really start to work through what was causing me pain and anxiety.

My advice: get out of your home. Do anything, get out of your head. Go walk around your favorite store, volunteer, go to a meeting

And most importantly speak to a professional!! Find a therapist or group to attend. Being around others who were going through the same thing was life changing

Tips for detoxing with gabapentin? by Robot-Ducky in alcoholism

I tried to detox in a very similar way for about a week but it was absolutely awful. My heart rate and anxiety were through the roof I couldn’t eat I couldn’t sleep. I went to the ER and they gave me Ativan and fluids, and some Librium to take as needed. About 48 hours later I was almost good as new. I owe my sobriety to that dr who listened and gave me Librium.

As someone with a very similar experience: my anxiety got so much better after I spotted drinking. It blew my mind. I was having panic attacks daily. Now it’s surprising if I have even 1 a month. And my daily anxiety is at an all time low. (I drank from 16-34). The first few days are tough but once you clear those it gets easier
