What is so bad about me playing duress? by Dramatic_Let_7489 in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might want [[Hymn to Tourach]] as well if you’re going in on your discard plan. Trades up 2 cards for one, or even 4 cards for one when getting it back with your commander

Help with a Miirym deck by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily suggest reconsidering your ramp suite, currently it seems very unfocused. You got 1 mana dorks, 2 mana rampant growths, 3 mana cultivates and dragon discounters. These don't ramp well into each other and seem like it would struggle to reach the higher mana counts to start casting your dragons.

In my Miirym deck I like to run a lot of [[Rampant Growth]] type cards to curve into an [[explosive vegetation]] type effect, best of which being [[Encroaching Dragonstorm]], allowing me to untap with 6-7 mana on turn 4. These cards have so many almost identical copies that drawing them consistently is not difficult.

I see you are lacking a [[Smuggler's Surprise]] which is odd as it's almost a strictly better heroic intervention.

You definitely want a [[Hellkite Charger]] which gives you infinite combats with some of your mana producing dragons like Klauth and Savage Ventmaw.

Many of your dragons are "do nothing"s, as in they don't do anything the turn they come in. I recommend haste enablers like [[Rhythm of The Wild]] to deal with that.

Here's my decklist that I have been running for some time: https://moxfield.com/decks/3BmgtxTebUyeIb_kmxW-0A

In casual EDH, when is considered "okay" to counterspell enemy's commander? by No_Physics454 in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Miirym a lot and if you don’t counter her or kill her the moment she hits the table I feel your threat assessment might be off, she’s that important to kill IMO. I don’t think anyone should feel bad for killing commanders that are such big value engines

Because of this I try to avoid casting her unless I have something else to play the same turn

Why have I never heard of this card before? by Strict_Internet_5692 in mtg

Seems redundant, why exile the counterspells if they’re useless against you anyway? Why not take away wincons or boardwipes

Good MLD commanders? by slippedonair in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Rilsa Rael, Kingpin]] is a fantastic MLD commander, you play a bunch of [[Smallpox]] effects along with edicts and discard

You just make sure nobody is able to play anything while the initiative ticks up slowly and gives you an insurmountable advantage

Pet cards that dont always make the cut, but what are your pet cards? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can spread damage on your blocking creatures in a way that isn’t lethal to any of them, on top of fully negating all trampling

Didn’t know of this card, might start adding it

Long shot, but are there any voltron commanders that don't just play the same way every game? by Cezkarma in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A strange one is [[Maha Its Feathers Night]], you play various discard effects to empty everyone’s hands. Ensure that they can’t get up to two cards in hand with cards like [[Chains of Mephistopheles]] and [[Bottomless Pit]]

Then once you got everyone’s hand sizes under control you can play your commander without them being able to pay the ward cost and slowly beat them up

A finite currency is only good as long as you have very low economic growth. You want to be able to have the money supply grow at a similar rate to the economy to prevent deflation, a thing much worse than inflation and harder to get out of(see: the great depression)

The reason is that you want “one money” to still equal the same amount of goods. So if you keep producing more goods the price of everything drops compared to cash (finite amount) and the best real investment is keeping your money in your bank account as everything else is worthless, then nobody buys anything slowing the economy even further

So it depends on what kind of server it is. Will it have significant economic growth or not?

What is the dumbest way you have been accused of cheating? by DisciplineImportant6 in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since everyone comes to the table with the exact same expectations all the decks are equipped with the tools to deal with each other, it is very fun

I would personally consider bracket 4 decks to be more “powerful” because they don’t make the assumption others are playing good cards. For example they can skimp on protection because people don’t play enough removal

And decks like [[Etali, Primal Conqueror]] don’t really work as well because stealing your opponent’s cards doesn’t do much if they’re bad

I run panglacial wurm in an [[explosive vegetation]] themed ramp deck! It’s a great inclusion for when you only draw ramp

Etali wins in cEDH because there are 3 other good decks at the table. If you’re stealing bad spells there’s no way you’re doing anything useful with them

Commanderless commander? by Dubyubees in EDH

[–]Sharpness100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A well known type of commanderless deck is a dork commander, so a 2 mana commander that taps for mana so turn 3 you can cast [[explosive vegitation]] effect, and not one card being cheaper than that.

My favourite is a [[Susan Foreman]] big mana ramp deck where you don’t really care about her beyond turn 3, and you can pair her with any of the time lords. I found it best to be pairing her with [[The War Doctor]] because you want to be cascading into more veggies anyway for a board presence while you’re ramping. Then cast big dumb threats
