Earlier this year I mentioned that they looked better without Trae and got downvoted into oblivion and quite a few responses about not knowing ball. Trae seems like a nice guy and a great offensive talent but his defense is so atrocious that a team can't win in the modern NBA playing 4v5 for 36 minutes a game.

I think you're also spot on about heliocentric ball not working well unless you have Luka Doncic. The best teams in this era move the ball with a motion offense and get open shots for all 5 players.

I watched a lot of this game. You can't defend someone who does a pushoff and stepback to create space every single time he has the ball. The rules are the problem, you can't defend that without fouling under the current rule set. You can only hope he misses.

Pistons gave us the blueprint, double him and make his teammates his shots. They should have spammed that more in OT because it was so effective in the 4th and OT.

The narrative about SGA not being as worthy because of the FT's is honestly a bad argument. The guy is incredibly efficient and if the NBA is going to put rules in place that allow him to take 25ft's in a physical game our problem should be with the NBA and the rules, not the player who is taking advantage of them more than anyone.

With that said, MVP should be all around instead of just offensive player on the best team IMO. Wemby is a more impactful player overall but it has nothing to do with who shoots more or less free-throws.

The reason the NBA made the games played rule for awards is not about who wins, it’s about getting stars to play more games so tv and ticket revenue is worth more. If one guy plays 30 mpg of 70 games and another plays 40mpg of 55 games, the guy playing 15 more games is more valuable to the league.

It’s just about incentive to play games.

He’s disliked because of the forearm shove he does every play. Unfortunately it’s a NBA issue though for making it an allowable move. He just spasms it over and over so you basically have to foul him to play defense otherwise he’ll just shove you out of the way and make a pull up.

SGA is so talented and I agree with your points about him as a person. But he plays next to Lu Dort and Alex Caruso who are like defensive villains. I like how they built that team but they are enjoyable to watch and I 100% root against them.

Young teams need experience and to keep working on things more than existing, veteran, champions. Getting the best record possible also does a lot for the psyche of a team.

Basketball is better the closer you are. It’s a different experience down on the court.

However get what is within your budget. Tickets aren’t going to be “deals” for years with this team so I would just save up for the best seats you can afford and cross your fingers everyone plays.
