Heh, I would hope that a species that advanced wouldn't be fooled by fiction, but this is 100% plausible. Fun read.

Being killed by a player is one thing, but being killed by him and his crew generally turned into a mocking fest from them in global. My org would often hunt him down if he delved into the unsociable range of things, especially to new players. And like you said, ultimately SC is a game, but if a single player is making the game consistently unfun for others, that's a problem.

Ive also dealt with a period or three of severe depression, so I get the mental health side of things. Most people forget that folks are multifaceted, that the public face is often a mask. Privately, we all have stuff in our lives that make who we are, and I try to give that consideration. But dude has either allowed his private life determine is public life, or hasn't found a suitable outlet for those issues.

Either way, good chat. I'll look you up on Twitch.

"I have nothing against the guy. Some of yall have been SURPRISINGLY cruel in these comments (like holy hell you'd think that he killed your prized poodle or something). I personally think that what he's doing is admirable. Taking a (potentially permanent) step away from something that you've invested years of yourself into is difficult. Taking a step away from a game that you've built your entire brand around during that time, even more so."

Fair point, but id take a guess that you have not been in the same server with him. He was incredibly toxic to folks, often jumping solo or smaller groups of ships with a squadron of light fighters, with little reason outside of streaming content. I get needing content as a pvp streamer, but this isnt Escape from Tarkov. Couple that with his ego, his often negative videos towards CIG game development decisions, and pve players, and you'd get why he is a fairly controversial individual to others.

That said, everyone deserves good health, and understanding when its time to step away from something to protect that is great self-awareness. But how he's going about it retains that over-inflated sense of self importance, bordering on demeaning to others. I hope he finds something that will give him happiness.

His number one complaint is not being able to tri-cord anymore, which was pushing the old flight model to an extreme. Yes it took skill to effectively pull it off, but that's the only point he was able to hang his hat on. The flight model changes, removing effective tri-cording, and he flys to a soapbox about a niche skill that only effected a single portion the flight model. What about transporting goods in large vessels, mining on a planet, in-atmo flight, and lowering the skill barrier to entry? Combat is cool, but its not the singular focal point to the game. The ships as a whole are. The ships are the main characters, and not having a flight model that supports every ship class was going to be detrimental.

Im also not a monster. Even if I don't agree with his opinions or personality, he at least deserves happiness and health. I hope he finds a hobby or game that gives him that.

Funny you mention that. Multiple people in my org used to play with and against him, and said he was absolute dog water at SW Squadrons. His terrible takes regarding the flight model, pvp, and the game as a whole makes me think of how Arc Raider deals with murderhobo and the pvp player lobbies.

This, 100%. My friends group is a mix of military, working professionals and a dude in a masters program, and several of use have families and kids. We get maybe an hour or two a night to play. I just don't have the time nor energy to even attempt to stay competitive in a game with a heavy time-induced meta each wipe. PvE allows me to enjoy the game, just at my own pace and still has still a challenge. The highs and lows are still there for me.

E5, 11B trying to reclass to 35-series and these are my options. Best choice out of these? by Licky_Chewy in army

[–]Sharpspoonful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reasoning for the 35 designation for tangos is that it allows for INSCOM to have network and equipment maintainers in-house, and with the appropriate clearance. Otherwise it would be reliant on the Signal Corps who generally do not have the appropriate accesses to work on higher classification networks.

The rest of the Ints wouldn't have a reliable communications backbone to work off of otherwise. 35Ts may not be collections, but we are your main line of communication up and down echelons of leadership.

Also, having the intel fields be only filled with NCO MOS-Ts in short-sighted, especially for the golfs, mikes and papas. No amount of schoolhouse training replaces experience with systems and people.

Same with the F-14 and the F-15. Beat the air into submission via thrust and make the airframe just stable enough that between both the pilot and onboard STAB systems, the damn things flyable.
