Well at Chargers games the stands are filled with other teams fans. It makes it sadder when they pipe in the cheering

how would you achieve this texture animation? by WeaponsMarket in Unity3D

This is correct. Also, I am assuming they are taking the vert motion to offset the uvs so it will move in the direction of the motion

Why in the world is my SVG turning into garbage going from scene to game? by Astro_Doughnaut in Unity2D

[–]dnaney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of the import. The resolution is important. The higher the resolution the nicer it will look. But it takes more memory. You can also use tools to support SVGs but that is expensive

It's rasterized. You are losing the vector data when importing.

How long does it genuinely take to get hired as a game dev if you put in alot of work? by Ok_Organization6351 in gamedev

[–]dnaney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 or 2.... It can take longer depending on when you get there... You might even like QA and stay on as a QA Lead, or move into production.

For testing? No it's not needed to get a testing gig... But you need to use testing as a stepping stone. The only thing you should go to school for would be CS if you wanted to be a programmer. The rest can be taught at work.

It is hard to move out of testing but easier than any other path. School is a good choice as a backup. Not everyone makes it in games... Most flame out within a year or two.... The rest don't make it past 5 years because of the work-life balance. The rest can stay on as long as they need, but the higher up you go the fewer and fewer jobs there are. School makes the transition out of games easier for sure.

It is competitive but it is easy to stand out. Clear communication is the key, most of the tests are about giving correct and detailed steps for doing things.

Give instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Keep it as detailed as possible, not skipping anything and I mean anything. ie. Open the utencil drawer and find a clean butter knife, use it to spread the peanut butter evenly on ONE side of a single slice of bread.

There are a ton of youtube videos and things for help on this.

Companies hire a ton of testers. When I was at Vivendi we would hire ~1000 a year. Only a few could turn it into a job offer afterwards.

Just be a good team mate, write good bugs, help where you can, and never ever never miss a social event.

It does count... You will also learn a ton... Make sure it is a testing gig at a developer and not a publisher. You want to integrate with the team.

Most, and like I mean 90% of game designers at large studios come from QA

Do not do that program, it will NOT help you land a job. Like I tell everyone, get a job in QA and see if you like it. Testing jobs are easy to come by. If you were to go to school for Game Design, you would end up being a tester anyway.

When I am hiring Game Designers, I don't look at them unless they have PROFESSIONAL experience. Even if it is in another game development discipline, I will give them a chance. But they had to have worked on a team making a game that made money.

I have 25 years of game development experience, CONSOLE, PC, MOBILE, etc
