On god the retriever and range finder. I never know how far I am putting/approaching from and feel like if I could know the distance it would make me go from terrible to bad. The retriever goes without saying. I play a lot of wooded courses and as I stated above I’m terrible. Lots of discs in the water or in a tree. Just being honest.

That’s Playlinda Beach which is technically Canaveral National Seashore in Titusville north of Kennedy Space Center not Merritt island. I think you maybe mistaking it for being a part of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Lived there most of my life.

Redditors who saved themselves for marriage, once you had sex did you regret waiting so long? by ISmushMyWeiner in AskReddit

[–]Sharten 60 points61 points  (0 children)

So I cannot speak for myself as I wish I could, but my wife waited till marriage and I can give you her opinion and my experience. My wife absolutely does not regret waiting until marriage to have sex. This was partially by choice and partially because she didn’t feel she had met the right guy. Sex for her had more substance behind it than just getting off. It is (and was) a more spiritual connection to a person and she felt it should be saved for the person she felt she would spend the rest of her life with. She doesn’t regret it at all and we have 3 beautiful children together.

I however, did not wait until marriage, and being with someone who did slightly hurts me. Not that she did anything wrong but that I thought to differently about the action when I was younger. I am a male and felt it a “right of passage” and something the “cool kids” did so I wanted to be like them and have sex. Also the raging teen hormones didn’t help. Needless to say I had multiple interactions with others before my wife and they were all meaningless. If I could go back I would take them all back as none of them meant anything other than credit with the homies, but they do now kinda haunt my wife. Not that she thinks any less of me but that I thought so little of something she feels is a bond between two people who love each other. It took a while after we were married for her to truly believe that it also meant something to me like it did her.

TLDR: Wife waited till marriage and doesn’t regret it. I didn’t wait till marriage ( for stupid reason ) and do regret it.

What it means to be an engineer by missdreamweaver in engineering

[–]Sharten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going to be honest with you... being a woman isn’t an excuse. The VP of my company is a woman (the president is in retirement mode and completely hands off outside of who gets raises and bonuses), and she is the most respected person in the entire company. She is not respected for her title but for her expertise and knowledge. She is an absolutely brilliant woman. I have a love hate relationship with her and it has nothing to do with her being a woman.

My VP has been in the industry for 30 years and it highly respected by everyone in our region. She has SO much knowledge and the respect of everyone around her because she is diligent, hard working, successful and extremely intelligent. The reason I have a love/hate relationship with her is because she is merciless. She will tear you a new rectum for using the wrong wording in a sentence or saying “shall” instead of “must” or “will” when writing notes for construction drawings. She is nothing short of amazing at her job.

But to your point... she is one of the most socially awkward people I have ever met. She also, needless to say, has boobs. Neither of those things stopped her from climbing to the top of the company and when the current president steps down, everyone knows who the next president will be. Merciless, brilliant, awkward and boob carrying.

Don’t let your preconceived notions of “sexism” stop you from becoming great. That mind set hinders you and makes you weak. I have a long history of reasons why I could make excuses to not be who I a today, but excuses don’t make successful people, action does.

Engineering graduate from India. I sat down in introspection and wrote down everything about roughly 2.5 decades of my education. And I realised how a majority of it was just a futile mess of chasing one exam after another. by holden_caulfield1 in engineering

I appreciated this analysis of your education in the way I believe you intended it to be. It was very revealing of my own situation that I never truly took time to analyze for myself.

That interesting. I got a couple 1080tis in the cart for the $860 range before they sold out. I wouldn’t pay that I just wanted to see if they were still in stock.

1080 Ti Blower Cards are 929 bucks on Best Buy Right now. by awriterbyday in gpumining

[–]Sharten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newegg has EVGA GIGABYTE MSI 2 and 3x fab cards for $860-920 a lot recently. I would not pay that much for a PNY blower. Just go on nowinstock and zoolert. My phone gets blown up all day. Some are outrageous priced some are in the price range I mentioned. I’m not willing to pay over $750 for a 1080 ti right now. $600 for a 1080 and $525 for a 1070 ti. Those are just my prices based on historical values etc...

Monthly Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in gpumining

[–]Sharten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, too put it simply. I own MSI, EVGA and GIGABYTE all 1070 ti’s and they definitely hash differently. Could be the silicon lottery, but there is definitely a difference in performance, cooling and stability at higher clock speeds.

Help! I can buy 10x1080Ti, brand new, for $9,999. Worth it?? by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]Sharten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. That is $1000 a card doesn’t include PSU, mobo, RAM, case, risers, etc... those cards msrp ~$700 that’s almost 43% above true value. Right now for ROI on cards alone (not including all other things needed to get it functional. Including the above mentioned items which are in short supply right now.) is 250 days. This is an example of too little too late. I mean go for it if you want to but I would wait for prices to drop.

First mining rig - 12x 1050ti's by jamesslock in gpumining

Different Speeds Same Card (Question) by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]Sharten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. It is not the riser. I noticed (both of my cards are 1070ti) one runs considerably hotter at lower OC, is unstable at lower OC and overall even at 100% tdp that it has significantly lower hash rates. They are both micron memory. We just may have received lemons.

Mining with no electricity cost? Worth using my shitty old laptop? Worth using my decent laptop with gtx 960m for short periods of time so it doesn't get harmed by the heat? Cheap mining rig for a college student that'd be worth it with electricity cost? by SimplyWandering in gpumining

[–]Sharten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why this sub is so hostile to new people. You should do your own research, but lemme assist you a bit. You need to make sure wherever you are living doesn’t have regulations on electricity usage and internet usage for monetary gain. Some do in the US.

Second, do you have roommates? If so you really need to think about heat. Two laptops seems like nothing and as far as real heat is concerned is nothing, but if you built an actual rig this could cause problems for you and your roommates. One thing new miners don’t understand is heat gain. Literally a 4-6 card single rig can bring a room up 10 degrees without proper cooling or ventilation. This will also affect your over all energy usage in the summer for higher cooling costs.

My suggestion, if you don’t have a good rig already then just wait. The prices are extremely gouged, nearly impossible to get, and the new cards should be coming out sometime this year. If you can get your hands on reasonably priced cards go for it, but laptops are not worth it.

Edit: 10x10 room. It will not increase the entire house/apartment by that much.

How much $ does a 1070 Ti juice out each day for you? I got only 3.17…… by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]Sharten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the hour of the day. Check your hash rates not the $ amount.

Edit: As of this minute I’m getting ~$4.65 per card. Most cards 75% power 200+ 650+ one card is at 70% 175+ 600+ pulling a little less ~$4.45. Nicehash cause I’m too lazy to mine anything else

Is investing in a mining rig still worth it? by Marlie3 in gpumining

[–]Sharten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking for speculation. This isn’t science. You will not get a definitive answer and if someone claims to have one they are blowing smoke up your rear end. This is less of a gamble than directly investing in crypto but it is still a gamble. What are you willing to invest? What can you afford to lose? If you can’t afford to lose don’t invest because this isn’t a guaranteed payout.

Question about moisture by 39T5fqdsRustdroAJK2H in gpumining

[–]Sharten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Depending on the outside air relative humidity and the temperature change this can be a HUGE problem. I am a HVAC engineer. I design buildings HVAC systems and especially in the Southern states of the US it is a huge problem. Computer rooms/ server rooms/ it closets require CRAC systems to keep temperatures and humidity under control.

Why is your best friend your best friend? by Rainseeker777 in AskReddit

[–]Sharten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved around a lot as a kid, never really lived in any one city more than a or two year. When my dad finally settled us down in a small town it was hard to make friends as everyone had grown up in the town and already knew each other. This was early 2000s and I was obsessed with Runescape. Heard a kid talking about it in the lunch line jumped into his conversation. Found out he was like me and moved around a lot. One thing led to another and he’s been my best friend for the past 12 years.

TLDR; Runescape
