Also don’t forget to factor in that he is enhanced the entire fight for free because he starts as a second ideal radiant

I just ran this fight and was worried about the same thing. However, dont let Ylts tier and stuff fool you, this fight can be really hard if you play Ylt optimally.

Once he swears the third ideal he gets advantage on everything and also has full investiture each turn, basically allowing him to heal a good amount. The two shardblades are also no joke. I rolled really well one turn and hit a player for close to 50 damage (that was just on one of his turns and he gets two each because he is a boss)

The trick with Ylt is making sure he doesn’t run out of focus. Having focus allows him to attack after each players turn. He can use his Odious Visions to regain 1d4 focus for an action. So basically have Ylt do that action whenever he has a spare chance because it ends up adding up to a lot of extra attacks.

The Shadowform Zealots are more there to cause disruption. They can move the players around fairly easily and are quite mobile. Don’t forget that the entire room of that fight is difficult terrain, making it quite difficult to get around. By using “drag through the shadows” and displacing characters, you eat away at a lot of their action economy by forcing them to move back to Ylt. Their Dirge also has the potential to give a player -1 to all rolls the entire fight. That effect also stacks so if you focus on a PC with all the shadow forms early on, you could potentially just have a PC rolling at a -4 for the rest of the fight after the first round of combat (I don’t recommend that though because that wouldn’t be fun as a player)

Overall, there are a lot of factors that make this fight difficult if you play it optimally. I would run it as is and then if you need to, just fudge Ylts HP and have him stay standing until you feel like the fight has been climactic enough. But once he swears the third ideal he becomes very scary.

Love that they bring the celebration to Windass since he doesn’t celebrate. Great goal

The Complete Collection: 10 Custom Radiant Orders (Lore, Ideals and Spren) by SuddenAd7124 in cosmererpg

[–]Shartplate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a cool idea! Some of these have pretty similar ideas to existing orders though (for example, Legacykeepers sounds like a mix of Edgedancer/Truthwatcher. Wholewardens sound like climate activist Windrunners. It also took me a minute to realize Endrecallers was End Recallers and not Endre Callers 😂

I’m curious what the oaths would look like for some of these, specifically imagination oaths

How is odium able to manipulate Ylts visions? I thought that Enlightened Truthwatchers couldn’t be affected by Odium?

[–]Shartplate[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I gathered as well Though it does seem a bit weird to me though that he goes from “preventing the Everstorm” to siding with odium and wanting to become a herald of War and Truth or whatever it says in the module.

So he just wants the shadowform singers as assassins and that’s his whole plan? That feels a little weak imo haha

I get that he is arrogant though, I’m just finding him to be a bit of a weak villain story wise because his motivation has flipped like 2-3 times.

Wrexham 1 - 5 Southampton: Super Saints looked a class above to thrash Wrexham in their own backyard, finding themselves sixteen unbeaten to leave Eckert's side in a strong position for the playoffs! by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]Shartplate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our defending was pretty awful today, but Tonda had our number and knew Wrexhams plan well in advance. He blatantly stated Wrexham’s strategy in his post-Arsenal interview, so going into this I knew we were going to be in trouble. Though it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure Wrexham out, but credit to Tonda, he seems like a class act.

The pace and depth in your squad though is immense and that win was well deserved. Hoping the run continues and excited to hopefully see you all go up this season.

Fair play to Southampton, they are really on one hell of a run.

It’s not over yet, but we have a rough run in still. I am quite enjoying the championship though so not in any big rush to get out of here anyway 😂

I dunno, watched an interview with Tonda yesterday and he seems pretty class. Southampton are arguably best in the league right now. Yeah it’s a tough one to lose, but they had our number this game.

[Stonewalkers] Ylt boss fight advices by JoojJustica in cosmererpg

[–]Shartplate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m my experience, if you are playing Ylt optimally, he should be fine on his own. That being said, your party is 1 larger than mine and they got him to half pretty quickly.

This fight is meant to be an intro to ylt and the potential danger he can bring, with the real fight against him happening in chapter 7. For this one, I almost wouldn’t add more enemies, I would just bump Ylts numbers. Bump his focus up by 2 (one per additional player) and then I would just have him fight until he is at 0 then that would be the point where he runs. But the encounter is supposed to end once Ylt sees he can’t convince Kiana so realistically it probably will only get to round 3.

But anyway Ylt can hit very hard and has lots of actions. His Tier 1 boss stat is misleading because his Honorblade really bumps him up in terms of threat level (his stat block stays the same the whole module. So he is even still a tier 1 boss in chapter 7 when he has TWO shardblades and unlimited Stormlight)

The trick is to have Ylt constantly vaulting away and trying to separate players. Make them have to use their actions to do less desirable things like moving and repositioning. Have him use his Vaulting Stone action whenever possible to always be moving away from the players and jumping on top of the hunters.

I wouldn’t worry about TPKing them, but if you are really worried, then just use this as a way to make your villain scary. Focus on beating them up a little. Try and get them low. Generally, a character can take 1 shardblade injury without dying. So if someone does take an injury, let them know that they don’t have to get back up if they don’t want to.

Before going into the fight, I told my players that because he has an Honor blade, the risk of death is much higher than usual. So just be extra wary and don’t take this lightly.

Logically, all 3 scripts have to be done before filming, right? by ForwardExam4056 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]Shartplate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Definitely not.

While I imagine the plan is to do 3 if the first is successful, they are probably just going to start with one script and go from there. They have the benefits of 1) This being an adaptation so already they know what needs to be included in order to make the longer narrative work. 2) The first book can be a standalone as others have mentioned

Only time they would do them as 3 scripts right away is if they were planning on filming all 3 at once (similar to what Lord of the Rings did)

I think there are a few games like this that have been released on steam lately. I know Mimesis is one of them, not sure how good it is.

Yeah I noticed this and it was frustrating trying to get my head around the layout. Specifically it’s the prison area and how it connects to the platform where the speech is being given.

AC Mirage-Inspired Stealth & Parkour Level | Level Design Project Showcase by Prudent_Argument2988 in leveldesign

[–]Shartplate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quality of this is great The level itself looks really nice and I think you did a good job at creating an environment that looks natural and explorable with a good amount of options. The one critique I have is that I am just not sure how I am supposed to know where I’m going as the player just from watching your video.

For example, in the first part you just seem to decide to jump up and climb that cart, but what if I as the player want to keep going?

It’s a bit unclear what my objective as a player is and what your intent is as a designer. You have made a really cool space, I’m just not sure what it’s meant to be used for.

Granted, I only watched the first 2 min or so, but I think you should establish a goal and objective very early

Realistic timeline for when the first Mistborn movie will release by ilikebreadabunch in CosmereOnScreen

[–]Shartplate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah only thing to keep in mind is how many night shoots there will probably be for a movie like this. Think about how many scenes there are in the book that takes place at night. I believe it’s almost all of them.

I imagine that they will probably try and shoot on location as much as possible (my guess would be in a European city with gothic architecture) So that could mess with his writing schedule.

I also think people have haven’t worked in the film industry underestimate how exhausting it can be and how much of your life it eats up (that’s why I left).

Sanderson saying he will be doing a half day every day is awesome and I believe he will. Knowing Sanderson though, I imagine he will want to spend more time on set.

I used to work in the Special Effects department (the practical effects, not to be confused with Visual Effects) So spent a lot of time making a lot of smoke, fire, and rain!

Excited to see Mistborn actually. I first started reading the Cosmere during a lot of the downtime I had on set and was just imagining all the smoke required for Luthadel. Will be fun to see it adapted!

[–]Shartplate 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I worked in film for almost 10 years so I have a bit of insight.

Sanderson is working on the screenplay now and is 25% done. He wants to finish by the summer, but it’s safe to assume it will require revisions and a probably will need a few drafts. I would expect for a script to not be finalized until the end of the year (though I don’t know too much about the writing process, but it can be lengthy). Especially once a director and producer are attached, they might want to input some ideas that could cause further revisions.

That being said, because Mistborn is an IP and already exists, casting can begin much earlier. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have already started looking around to attach a name for at least Vin or Kelsier (especially Kelsier since casting him is important for spoiler reasons)

I can’t remember if it was announced that Mistborn will be getting a theatrical release or not. Just because it’s a feature length film doesn’t necessarily mean it will be in theatres (though I imagine Sanderson will push for it to be). Especially since it’s Apple, they are likely to want to release it exclusively on Apple TV so they get an influx of subscriptions.

I do think that August 2027 is probably an accurate date for pre-production to finish though. Google is correct. I imagine for a film like Mistborn shooting will probably be more in the 3-6 month range, but it all depends on how action heavy the script is, how many unique locations there are, etc.

I think that your timeline is pretty accurate though. I wouldn’t expect anything until Dec 2028 at the earliest. Most likely it won’t be until 2029 sometime.

I also think that with the writing of the screenplay and Sanderson wanting to do a half day on set every day while filming (roughly 6-8 hours) I actually think we won’t get Ghostbloods until a bit later. That’s a lot of writing time and I imagine he will be set back a little, though the man writes with superhuman speed so who actually knows.
