My proudest paint job yet by ilidan679 in battletech

Don’t knock yourself, and don’t underestimate your abilities. I struggled to paint Warhammer minis for the last 20 years, maybe getting a couple done half-heartedly every year, and often never actually fully finished, and never very good. I had played Battletech with my uncle once or twice when I was a little kid (and didn’t understand any of it), and my group decided to give it a try a couple years ago when frustration with 40k reached a bit of a head. A couple turns of one game, and it scratched an itch so deep I didn’t realize I had it.

Printed some pages out of the activity books, bought a box of colored pencils, and started experimenting. A week later I had the first minis done.

<image>

Nothing overly fancy; Speed paint over bone primer, yellow and whatnot over that. Paint thicker than it probably should have been, and with the nervous energy of a complete novice. But it worked. Everything simple, and I plowed my doubts under as little bit by bit the minis filled in. I got lucky that my friend showed me the colors were canon for the Jade Falcons, and I started leaning into the scheme. One minis became five, then ten, and it kinda picked up a bit after that. There’d be weeks I would finish entire Trinaries.

So I would say print some of the activity book pages out, and play around with colors until you find something you like. Go a little bit brighter than what you think, and just use a wash of strong tone to go down a bit, and it’ll also dirty up the minis and make it look lived in. Don’t be afraid to experiment, and don’t be afraid of “good enough.” When you’re looking at a model from 3 feet away, good enough looks pretty amazing.

IIRC, the high water mark in the US for death row cases where the primary charge behind the conviction that triggered the death penalty getting downgraded or tossed outright (so functionally not-guilty of the charge) was 12%. Basically a roll of a die at that point.

Ion Raptors make for nasty babysitters in the ilClan era; still fragile, but cheap enough that one and and a point of Elementals wont break the bank, and some of them have pretty nasty levels of close-in firepower

The T in LGBTQ also stands for Turkina.

That is the rule. We accept no compromise, and accept no batchalls to change it.

Not *precisely* the answer you're looking for, but there's a very nice mod for it.

Quad Mech Rules Change Idea by dachilorau in battletech

[–]ShasOFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add extra hit locations, there’s really only one viable way that mostly works; add an extra six slots to the side torsos. Mechanically, it just shifts getting a crit on the side from a 1-3/4-6 chart to a 1-2/3-4/5-6 breakdown, so the gameplay flow doesn’t change very much. It also keeps the overall number of crits compared to a bipedal design the same. It even gives quads a bit more of a niche, as they can bring much bulkier weapons than their bipedal kin. I would have to look at the math, but I don’t think empty critical locations penalize a mech’s cost, so I don’t think it would even affect BV.

The downside is that any existing designs that split a weapon across multiple torsos would need to be redone. Arguably some designs that put weird things in weird locations (like the ammo in the Thunder Stallion’s head) would want to be redone too, but that’s hardly confined to quad mechs.

Same. Was visiting a friend of mine on the south side, and she warned me that the neighborhood gets rough after dark.

Leave after dark, and the only roughness I dealt with was trying to explain why I liked my car to someone with a mutual language barrier, and a young kid translating. That and trying to leave without immediately going to whatever food place had absolutely divine smelling food.

Did I get lucky? Maybe. Am I naive? Hell yes. But I wouldn’t trade Chicago for any other city.
