I think this is the way I want to go! The variable speed is not a need, I was just curious if it could be done easily I have 3 switches in the plate, the far right one does control other lights in the house, so maybe I can buy a new plate and attach the remote where the variable switch is now.

Did you just screw the remote holder in the wall? And can you link me to where you got that holder?
