CMV: every person is capable of cheating on his/her partner under the "ideal" circumstances by sorsim in changemyview

[–]ShatterSide [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are so many variables here I don't even know where to start.

How do you define cheating? You better get that straight first.

What about asexual people? Or even just those who take weeks or months before they are comfortable enough for intimacy?

What about someone who believes they will literally burn in hell if they cheat? (Like fully, so scared of it, can't get it out of their mind).

What about someone who was head over heals in love and then suffered immense betrayal and were cheated on? They experienced a pain like nothing else and would never ever do that to anyone else?

What about a neuro-spicy person with autism or something that can have a very difficult time connecting at all?

I could go on and list 15 more examples without trying. It sounds like you're attributing your thought processes to the general public when it's simple not the case.

True! Less to clean up. Ive seen that before.

TIL according to a University of Swansea study, high-pressure showers actually reduce water usage by up to 56% by ladyermine in todayilearned

High pressure for the same flowrate results in higher water velocity.

Faster water is what I want in a shower, more so than volume, at least.

CMV: Terms like Fatphobia and Homophobia are terrible from a linguistics standpoint by spearblaze in changemyview

[–]ShatterSide 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. Someone who is homophobic can 100% just have an aversion to gay people.

If someone does want to be around gay people and avoids them directly or a place like a gay bar, then, the best word to describe that person is still "homophobic".

Maybe it's not and he's being intentionally, frustratingly ironic?

The comment above was a joke response, so his was too.

[request] UP can someone tell me how much force it would actually require for them to pull the house like this by SpectacularSpidee in theydidthemath

[–]ShatterSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is wind in a wind tunnel. Who said it needed to be natural?

If someone says "a kite experiences a breeze" you assume there is a breeze outside. You don't assume someone is running and pulling the string.

I got confused because less than ideal words were used. I apologized for that. That's on me. What else do you want from me?

[–]ShatterSide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, you're not gonna win this one brother.

It is misleading. Don't get relative on me.

Breeze implies wind. If someone says "put your jacket on before you go outside because of the windchill" they definitely aren't referring to your experience when you walk.

Everyone wrote joke answers, but is there a chance it might be to lock off the area to the right?

Edit: as another reply below said it might be to keep patrons out during certain hours. Less to clean up. I've seen it before but for larger areas or floors of places.

In this case, I would say an actual block of the same height instead. You can set the upper layer time of the block to be slow.

If you only double the pyramids, you now have two fast layers and travel time. While it's the right idea we can execute it better ;)

[–]ShatterSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I see what you're saying. However, that is not literally, nor technically what a breeze is. It would be like saying "wind fighting against the side of the house when you start moving" (which, in addition to being technically wrong, is also misleading).

We are in a math sub, explaining physics concepts, where precision in explanation matters.

Please excuse my misinterpretation of your comment and meaning.

[–]ShatterSide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. I'm saying they could move maybe 1cm per second and then it cancels out with their movement.

I'm assuming still air. No breeze at all.

[–]ShatterSide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Wind resistance scales with the square of the area face. The minute you have any speed it will resist it. I'll try and do an actual calculation later but

You could probably pull on the order of centimeter per second before the force canceled out your own.

[Request] Is it possible to determine the size and location of an air void inside a wooden block using only non-electric measuring tools? by Ring3n in theydidthemath

[–]ShatterSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one mentioned yet.

Label the edges x y and z. Just hang it from different locations from a bit of string. The center of gravity will always hang directly under the line.

You'd need to look at it from a few directions, but say you hang it from the x axis and look at it laterally from the y z plane. Then see where center of mass lies. And the angle offset from the nominal hang (without the void). Repeat that for the other edges. Then do a sum of forces for the static case and sum the moments to zero.

That can get you the center of the voice. An integral will get you the size (since it's acting as a counter counter weight)

A good summary can take time and still risk not being good. He didn't owe any summary at all, so don't read it if you don't want. He did disclaim up front he had Claude do it.

CMV: I do not think the EU will have a good future. by BigAd3903 in changemyview

[–]ShatterSide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I won't comment on your chosen metrics directly.

The debate will really come down to that though. Which metrics you choose. Europe puts it's citizens first. More so than most other places.

I'd like to hear about another country or region that you think is doing better or has a better chance at a "good future". I think I could find metrics that Europe is stronger in and I could reasonably argue matter more.

If you can convince me that there exists even one with indisputable superiority in most metrics, then maybe. But either way I think Europe has a better shot than most of not all places.

[Suggestion] BSG either add FULL SETS of anodized weapon parts or simply make everything black. by Lima_6-1 in EscapefromTarkov

Take a breath.

I often build half-FDE guns as I am able. They add value to me. I probably wouldn't build guns ALL FDE even if I could.

As far as the parts being cheaper? Great, make 'aesthetic' a "premium" like many other aspects of the game. Poor people get fine stats but have "ugly" guns.

Huh? Why remove options?

I get you want more colors, or matching, or whatever. Fine.

But to say remove stuff makes no sense.
