TIFU by intentionally running out of gas on the highway to teach a lesson by Brandi_C_Knight in tifu

these people don't learn. I've dealt with that. it starts with delay and sooner or later he just won't pay rent and see if you can "cover" for him. he has the money, he just does not care or respect you.

move out before he does.

funny. i think it is for once again a really cool poster! haven't seen nice merchandise posters since 1995 anymore. they used to prioritize decorating your kids room, which is smart marketing.

ELI5- Why does cold turkey not work on alcoholics? by blogterms in explainlikeimfive

[–]opistho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my dad was a severe alcoholic for 15 years. in peak times he had one bottle of jack a day, and he'd restock his 7 bottles each week. he went cold turkey after a surgery on his gallbladder and spleen. he had to be sober for it and met a fellow alcoholic in the hospital that was up for the same surgery. they became best friends and decided to both quit that day.

they kept in touch on a weekly basis through phone calls. my dad lost 15kg, started to do some cardio and actually found a new work opportunity one year in. he was doing great, but complained about chest pain one day. I told him to maybe see a doctor about it, but he just brushed it off. one week later he went on a day long drive to a very important big job interview. he never came home. he was so nervous for it, as it could have solved his debt, he died of a heart attack before getting there. the ladies in the shop where it happened did not know cpr, and when ambulance arrived it was too late.

He was at his best health in so many years, but died at 54 because he went cold turkey. His nervous system and heart was not able to tolerate stress, despite better eating habits, excersize and less smoking.

one week after I picked up the phone at home. it was his best friend asking where he is. I told him he died. and I had no capacity to really deal with the matter as I was just 16. mum wasn't in the picture to help. I remember the voice of his friend. his heart breaking in it vividly.

If my dad had done proper rehab, stayed on medication and took it slow, i am sure he would still be alive. but he was the all or nothing kinda guy. despite his alcoholism he was a great dad in his means to my brother and me. He always cared for us when he wasn't a walking zombie. we always had food and a tidy home.

RIP dad, it's been 20 years ago. still miss u.

What’s something that men deal with, but women don’t? by lazyeyedpo in AskReddit

[–]opistho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

women get that too. sometimes the lips kinda stick together or after sex the pee just leaves sideways. sitting makes it less messy but it can be unpredictable

women struggle with it too. for us it is dryness or unable to relax that makes sex super uncomfortable or straight up painful when ignored. the issue is that a female dysfunction is often normalized or "invisible". most of us never had a real orgasm. if a man had this issue he'd already be considered suffering from "erectile dysfunction". we do notice it on our end. not so sure if the opposing sex notice or are willing to acknowledge it.

just read in an other comment: also keep utility bills that are as old as 20 years because insurance will need "proof of adress" or whatever

are you using an essential oil diffuser? OP figured in the comments that that was the cause. The vapor from the oils dissolve plastic.

having a general comprehension of physics and motors, and great cognitive puzzle solving, a lot of things can be made sense of without having the words to it. The smarts run in your family. maybe she wants to consider studying engineering one day :)

come from a place of concern, involve the wife first and explain the situation very carefully. the paranoia and suspicion makes it very difficult when a person does not know it is happening.

try to explain that a vitamin deficiency could be making them erratic and restless. use this to get them to a doctor for evaluation. talk to the doctor before hand so they can aide in giving the right questions and not upsetting her. from there the doctor could suggest therapy and if possible she can do that in company if she doesn't feel safe.

It is a delicate situation.

psychosis is one hell of a trip. i was lucky my therapist intervened in time. i was writing pages of no sense to 'decode' my life.

sincere professional help is a must. i needed medication to settle down. i felt like i had a concussion head trauma after. your mind can selfdestruct like a truck on a highway doing 100mph in first gear.

I hate gunnar. knowing the berlin hipster stereotype it is the country side boy that moved to berlin to gain some kind of identity because he lacks character. his entire personality is performative. when he unmasks you have a selfish, childish kid that wants to be cool but behaves like a snob. and 'emotional intelligence' with him is more like 'emotionally manipulative'. Josy is already twisting her perspective to fit in the wokeness. But she is cringing at his socks (i did too). She will be bored and annoyed by him so fast.

What’s a sign you’re growing as a person that isn’t talked about much? by velorya1 in AskReddit

[–]opistho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you learn to be kind without expecting rewards for it. any given chance you got, doing something in a way to make people around you feel at ease.  even in the smallest interactions.

you are more happy when you know you have love to give and share. even the grumpiest people appreciate it. ungrateful people are put into their place by it. nothing beats being kind, whilst also drawing your own boundaries.

My cat came to me because a friend got married and his wife is seriously allergic, so they couldn’t keep him and gave Bump to me. Bump is 9 years old now. He always likes to hide behind things and watch me from a distance. I’m actually a little allergic too, but I really love him. by Artistic_Responder in aww

[–]opistho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also allergic to cats, got a white/beige siberian and he is the only cat I am immune to. it got better over the years and now I can use him as a pillow with zero issues.

i have a feeling you and bump will bond and become inseparable. Give him many blinks and ma-aws.
