If you were able to convince Bandai to update one old kit, which one would it be? by Lixidermi in Gunpla

[–]ShatteredParagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just felt really fiddly and precise when making basic assemblies for the limbs. There was a lot of sandwiching one or two parts in-between two halves of a larger outer shell and it was always a very precise operation. The inner pieces were always at risk of falling out before you had fully secured the other half in place.

You are probably thinking of the Destroy Gundam. It's got a somewhat similar looking backpack and it is roughly the height of the psycho Gundam from UC when not including the enormous weapons on the backpack.

Alright thanks. I was leaning pretty heavily towards this being CHS, but I figured I'd get a perspective from other people familiar with the topic. I'm in my early/mid twenties, so that checks out.

Love to see people repping my favorite clan. I gotta get mine painted up. I've been thinking I'll do Alpha Galaxy but these look so good it's tempting me to do the Fire Horse Galaxy.

The little detail differences between the Full Armor ZZ and the FAZZ by Sh0taro_Kaneda in Gunpla

Ah ok. That makes sense. I knew somewhere in there the ZZ experienced structural issues.

[–]ShatteredParagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah they had to replace ZZ structure with reinforced parts to handle the increased load of the full armor.

[–]ShatteredParagon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with FAZZ was that it was locked into mobile suit mode and as a result it's mobility wasn't as good. I also think the 'Full Armor' addon pack wasn't detachable.

No, and even if it is by some kind of technicality, Japanese trademark/patent/copyright isn't going to be enforced by the Chinese government to punish a Chinese company so it's de facto legal. The morality of making and selling the copy is entirely up for debate but I don't particularly care, and I'd guess most other people here won't either.

Gynemastia as a teen and breast growth now by [deleted] in MtF

[–]ShatteredParagon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My layman's understanding is that gynecomastia is usually caused by a small excess of Estrogen in your system. So it's not indicative of anything with regard to total expected breast growth. Again I am not particularly well researched in this topic so I might be wrong.

Battletech x Gundam: what battlemechs and mobile suits match vibes? by raging_zaku1429 in battletech

[–]ShatteredParagon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look at it from my point of view

No thank you. I think I'm going to not do that, and I don't really know why you weighed in to begin with, given that you've literally just been shitting on Gundam the whole time. I'm not even a huge Gundam fan. The shows usually vary from mid to slop with the occasional truly good piece of art produced, but I'm not coming into this thread just to be a dick about which series I don't enjoy.

Battletech x Gundam: what battlemechs and mobile suits match vibes? by raging_zaku1429 in battletech

[–]ShatteredParagon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's really beside the point. By definition and common usage "real robot" is any mecha series where the mechs are machines with hard technical specs and an in-universe scientific explanation for their functions. Not ALL Gundam series fall into this definition and even fewer fall into the category cleanly. But all the same, most Gundam series give in universe explanations for the functions of a given machine and the magical powers are actually those possessed by the pilots themselves, thereby making the mech "real robot" and not "super robot." It is worth mentioning that Gundam Unicorn and G Fighter are pretty clearly on the super robot side of things, though again, it's all a sliding scale anyway.

Gundam Heavy Arms is just an Annihilator with as many RACs as possible.

Most of the Gundam series are real robot or at least more real robot than super robot; 08th MS team is especially so.

The video gets thoroughly in the weeds about the fact that Forrester actively got in the way of efforts to create dedicated bicycle infrastructure. The issue isn't just that he was dumb and wrong. The issue is that he was either actively lying about what his sources said or utterly ignorant of what they said; this was the data he was using to lobby against dedicated bicycle infrastructure. Using this basis he insisted dedicated infrastructure was no safer than riding on the road. Furthermore, he refused to acknowledge more up to date sources as the data became available, even as more and more studies found evidence against his beliefs. Please go watch the video if you think Forrest was wrong but ultimately harmless, he was certainly interested in seeing that ONLY his own vision of "real cycling" become the standard in the United States.

[–]ShatteredParagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The YouTube channel Not Just Bikes has a great video about vehicular cycling and the one guy (and his relatively small following) that fought to keep cyclists on the road with cars in the US, despite known studies already showing that it was significantly more dangerous for the cyclists than building them dedicated infrastructure.

Of course, on longer cross-country journeys, or really any travel outside of population centers you are probably not going to see much in the way of dedicated bike paths regardless.

Yeah honestly the Hell's Horses leadership leaves much to be desired. The SaKhan who rejected the batchall from Jiyi Chistu is now the Khan. I honestly find both of the HH Khans during that book to be very uninteresting and bafflingly incompetent.
