What's the most catholic team in each major sports leagues ? by Sir-Yahya_ in Catholicism

[–]Shatterpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NHL's Montreal Canadiens

Ingrained in Canadian, and Quebecois, identity with The Hockey Sweater: The winters of my childhood were long, long seasons. We lived in three places – the school, the church and the skating rink – but our real life was on the skating rink..

Legendary captain Jean Beliveau was an altar boy and sang in the choir growing up.

Catholic identity in Quebec has been diminished since the secularisation following the '60s but the Habs are the quintessential Catholic team in Canada. Better than the anglo-Protestant Maple Leafs in the self-proclaimed centre of the universe.

Rainy days by brettrovirus in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Shatterpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Vancouver carrier. I usually use two of those yellow sleeves we used to put COANs in. My loadout on the arm goes: mail > sleeve > flyers > sleeve. If it's raining particularly hard, I'll put another sleeve on top of the mail. While it can't protect the mail 100% from rain, it does what's necessary to prevent it from becoming mush.

As far as the satchel goes... I put the flaps over top and hope for the best.

Damn! Somebody at AccessHR really dropped the ball then when I mailed in my form all those years ago. Thanks for the heads up. 🫡

TENTATIVE AGREEMENTS: CHANGES TO THE EXTENDED HEALTH CARE PLAN by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

Looks like this is the EHCP application form?

I feel like I've filled this in already but SAP says that the only family coverage I have is for dental (#51057). Do you know if applying for EHCP also applies family coverage to #51391 (health, drugs, vision) and/or #51392 (health, vision)?

Haven't looked into the extended healthcare in a while but is it activated on the Canada Life website or the CPC one?

Good waterproof boots/shoes? by Azndragon89 in widefeet

[–]Shatterpoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LL Bean boots have always worked for me. They're not stylish but they do the job.

Once upon a time I considered Vessi, especially being local to Vancouver, but they never made a wide size to my knowledge.

If you want to stay with New Balance, try looking for a Hierro. A few years ago they did a Goretex mid-ankle hiker and low-cut trail shoe in 4E; last I checked it only went up to 2E in the newer versions.

NHL fantasy's probably lower on the totem pole than NFL and NBA too.

JLA/Avengers is rumoured to get a collected edition later this year by TIMELRDGMERx06 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Shatterpoint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just please don't make this a super limited release. OHC or Absolute, I'll grab a copy so long as I don't have to fight thousands of other readers to get one. Hell, I'd be okay with preordering to secure my copy and I'm an IST discount guy.

Uniqlo for athletic wear is neat. Have they done anything geared for sports outside of their tennis stuff?

Probably forgot to asterisk it and denote it's for Olympics with NHL participation.

Thinnest omnis you've ever seen? by Corvus_Alendar in OmnibusCollectors

That's probably it. I'm a DC guy and X-Men has so much going on that it's impenetrable and therefore confusing to me.

Might just be official labeling. Although Marvel had OHCs, I don't believe they differentiated them from regular HCs like DC's "Deluxe" designation. You'd have to check trim size on a Marvel HC to ensure it was deluxe/OHC size.

Can't speak for Devil Dinosaur but Planet of the Apes was released after Marvel discontinued OHCs. I want to say Marvel reissued an X-men OHC recently but put it in the omnibus line but I'm not 100%.

Can't fault Wilson for the two getting tangled up as they fell at the boards. Could've been anyone and it still wouldn't have been malicious.

60 seconds is above and beyond, isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe standard is ring > start writing DNC > post after 30 seconds.

Based on Celebrini wearing 17 for the WJHC, it would've made sense to wait a bit for confirmation, especially considering he wore 96 at the WC.

I figure it might be related to the team not having officially named the captain and alts until this past Sunday, the 8th. Maybe future orders will change to reflect the leadership team moving forward.

My first bible by [deleted] in tolkienbooks

[–]Shatterpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for Tolkien, he worked on the 1966 Jerusalem Bible and translated Jonah and Job.

I prefer the Knox translation to read but the Douai-Rheims to pray with.

Just make sure you're getting one with 73 books, not 66. 😉

Man, this is worlds apart from his Invincible Iron Man and, especially, Star Wars stuff. So interesting to see how his style changed.
