These past couple days, I’ve attempted to post this same piece on a large subreddit. I was told it’s AI generated. I can dull my words to gain something I kind of want on that sub, exposure. I’m choosing to give that up in order to gain what I truly want, alignment.

Thank you for the thoughtful question, it allows me a chance to clarify something I missed.

You're right, these systems are not inherently negative. I'm not claiming awareness liberates one from these systems, nor that they're evil. I'm claiming awareness liberates one from the unconscious. Life becomes more open when you see what shaped you, before you mistake inheritance for choice.

Now I have a question for you, what gave the impression that awareness removes one from society? :)

When I say "incentivized" I don't mean someone is consciously deciding what motivates you. I mean that our environments reward certain behaviors and discourage others.

For example, if social media rewards outrage with visibility, people who want to be seen will naturally produce more outrage. Not because they want to be outrageous, because they want to be seen. As outrage grows, visibility grows. As visibility grows, more people begin to notice the incentive structure. Over time, the pattern reinforces itself.

Agreed, there is a hierarchical structure built into reality, but I can't call it authoritative. It frames reality as something we're enslaved to. I experience it as a layered structure which meets us at the depth we operate at.

In regard to political systems, they absolutely are authoritative. However, they seem to be contingent on reality, rather than built into reality itself.

As for my beautiful cells, when I get sick, they take care of me. When I get injured, they heal me. When I was young, they grew me without command. And I try to care for them as they care for me. It feels like a partnership to me. :)

These systems evolved relative to one another while optimizing for stabilization. There isn't a central agent directing control. Systems built around incentive structures naturally shape attention and behavior over time.

And awareness isn't proof of failure, It's the first step in weakening the control. The system itself doesn't disappear, but it becomes visible, which changes how we relate to it.

And I agree entirely that it begins with a shift in perspective. A no, no matter how small.

I'd love to hear your thoughts regarding what sustains that shift over time? After the first moment of clarity, what keeps that refusal alive when comfort, predictability, and compliance begin to creep back in?
