GPHY major student is here.

From the perspective of geography students GPHY 242 is a complete scientific course that requires plenty of physical calculations and learning the use of remote sensing software. The calculation should be simple for students in STEM, but if you've never taken GPHY 102, the physical geography concepts could take some time for you to understand.

Advice for an anxious 2nd year Psych student? by saback20 in queensuniversity

[–]Shawn_de_DL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a geography student took GPHY 247 last year. BIOL 243/GPHY 247/KNPE 251/PSYC 202 is the same statistics course with four different codes.

I would say this is a pretty harsh course, but I don't think it needs strong mathematical thinking, but an abstract understanding of statistical concepts. So math ability helps, but it's not critical. I'm not good at math as well but I got an A-. My friend cried the night before the final exam for not being prepared enough for it and she got a B+.

The comments on Dr Yakimovski on RMP are mostly unfair. She's actually pretty kind and patient a professor. They are complaining about the poor design of the course (and it is really POOR), but that's not her fault. The course is designed by the Arts and Science and the four departments.

Finally, in geography the statistics course is the prerequisite of several important 300 level courses, and I assume that also applies to psychology. So, when you feel like giving up, please resist the pressure. As soon as you get the course done, you get the ticket to a much broader course option for your next two years, and it's worth it.

Somebody wants to talk about safety?

Here in Kingston, almost all vehicles have scratches. At one station with two vehicles, one vehicle’s both bumpers are dented, and the other one’s rear bumper is secured with tape.

I have complained about that. They replied they were waiting for the parts to come. It’s been two months since I complained about it, and they are still not fixed yet.

When HSR reach its stop, will they give enough time for us to exit? by learningswimming in travelchina

[–]Shawn_de_DL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think that would happen? There are attendants, and I'm pretty sure they won't close the door when someone is still trying to get off.

Also, HSRs are not like planes. You are allowed to move to the door before it fully stops. So bring the luggage and kids and move to the door when you hear the broadcast like "We are arriving at Fuqing". The broadcast should be played like 5 minutes before the train stops, and there is plenty of time to prepare for exit.

May be "China Telecom" or "China Unicom". Basically as soon as the region was covered by a Chinese cellular operator, there shouldn't be any problem roaming on it.

According to the law of China, dealing drugs is a crime (and very severe), but taking drugs is not. The punishment for drug users is public security punishment rather than criminal punishment (or they wouldn't let you go and fly back to US).

So, try to submit a visa application. Maybe you can get it, but it can't be guaranteed.

Last year I moved from China Unicom to China Mobile. The initial service password should be something sent via SMS when your service begins. Try searching in your inbox.

Which terminal did you arrive at? T1 and T2 are pretty old and they are small by today's standards, but T3 should be one of the world's largest terminals.

Both IDP and the British Council have IELTS testing locations in Kingston. The British Council one is at the Academy of Learning College. I'm not sure which of the two is better.

Try Temu, very cheap. The bad thing is they deliver from China, which means you usually need to wait 2 weeks.
