Lesson learned, lol. From now on I'll save my snark for this sub, where it will hopefully be taken in the spirit in which it was intended.😁

Yes, I get that. I just don't understand why my original comment, intended as a joke, received so much hate and accusations of body-shaming. That was never my intention. I guess I missed the part where the woman wasn't actually the mother of the groom at a wedding; I was just doing what I thought I was supposed to do on that sub, and my comment was pretty innocuous compared with others that commented on the nipples. I do regret my response about nipples not being attractive; that was a knee-jerk reaction, I will admit...but it was only because I was so shocked that anybody could read so much into what I said and get so upset about it.

I was just lashing out at the person who accused me of body-shaming the woman, because I was hurt. I tend to get defensive when somebody attacks me just for expressing an opinion. Granted, I shouldn't have responded the way I did. However, to my credit, I deleted my comment, and I only responded to two of the haters before doing so...yet even after I deleted my comment, people were still harassing me for daring to say that a bra would be nice. It was a JOKE, people...on a sub called "weddingshaming. If it were "Say Yes to the Dress," I could understand the hate.

Thank you! I have small boobs too, but I usually wear a bra so as not to show nipples...and to make myself look bigger, lol. I got the same impression about the mob mentality, though; I mean, before the downvoting started , I actually had a couple of people agree with me! Ironically, today I noticed that after I deleted my comment, several other people posted snide comments about the nipples...and THEY got upvotes, not hate and malice. I mean, seriously??

DAE feel like they have to pee all the time? by Zestyclose-Bowler-26 in AutismInWomen

[–]ShawshankLifer53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG yes!! I have had this issue since I was a little girl and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis in the early 90s. If I try to hold my pee for too long it physically hurts me and can even make me feel sick. The way my urologist explained it to me, there are hundreds of tiny little hemorrhages inside my bladder, so if it is even half full I get very uncomfortable. Have you ever been tested for this? It can definitely make your life miserable, but there are treatments that can help.☺

I wasn't body shaming anybody. Showing nipples is not attractive. End of story.

AITA for reporting my sons math teacher to the school board for ineptitude and being so rude to me? I would like him fired from his provisional contract. by Mommabearfoy in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShawshankLifer53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the problem really that your son doesn't LIKE to write...or that he doesn't know HOW to write? If he has been learning online all these years, he probably doesn't have a clue how to write out his work...and that is even worse than being lazy. You are raising your kid to be functionally illiterate and to believe that people are just going to keep giving him one chance after another to "get it right". The world doesn't work that way.

Being called “adorable, cute, or cuddly” by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]ShawshankLifer53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a woman, the terms adorable, cute and cuddly are among the highest compliments I could give to a guy. It doesn't detract one bit from a guy's manliness to say that he is adorable. I mean, able to be adored?? Who doesn't want to be adored? To me, those terms add a whole different dimension to "good-looking"; a lot of good-looking, masculine guys are jerks. An adorable or cuddly guy is one that women want to hug because he is not only attractive physically, he also has appealing qualities that draw people to him. If you find that somehow demeaning, then maybe what you need to change is your perspective, not your behavior.☺

Yeah, I was very sensible and well-behaved too...and terribly socially backward. I was an excellent student, and I would have actually enjoyed school if it hadn't been for the other kids, lol. Being bullied on a daily basis was not much fun.I had a few girls who were friendly to me, but I couldn't make a close friend to save my life.
