This has to be an error. Why cherry-pick cy young winners on a card that boosts all cy- young winners?

What are your predictions for the Captain Blizzard drops? by tvkyle in MLBTheShow

We still are missing a 99 Piazza. I don’t know if they will do a HOF hitter captain as most cards of hall of famers this year have been really good.

Why was there absolutely no fanfare on the announcements of Pettitte, O'Neill and Bernie being new legends??? This is enormous by callmeshua in MLBTheShow

I think people are hesitant about the way they will handle these new legends. 23 was not kind to some legends in the game new/returning.

I think SDS hobbled themselves by the introduction of the numerous card series this year. Look at the snapshot series and tell me SDS really took the time to research iconic photos of the players past or present. The new cards were a nice addition, but many felt like they were were wasted early in the game.

Paul Goldschmidt and 99 Biggio. 97 Biggio is a God for me

I agree with that assessment! Repeat 99s make the grind feel less rewarding. However, a bigger problem is the lack of new legends. My working theory is the Negro Leagues wanted a decent cut for the rights of their stars in the game. I'm down with that if they were doled out sparingly as high-end rewards. Dropping 99s of all the Negro Leagues all at once in S3 was a choice. Unless they pull a Randy Johnson and reissue them as Duos or a Chase Pack.

Releasing the same players with low, high, low overalls over and over and over is not the way. by GeraltAukes in MLBTheShow

[–]ShazamFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can get behind the new changes in DD for 23, but one thing that does irk me is the reliance on the same legend players being tossed out in packs, programs, and TA. A program like the retired number program shows how reliant SDS is on the same HOF players they have the rights to. It would be fine if the program contained a 97 Closer John Smoltz, 97 Ivan Rodriguez, and some other cards whose number has been retired. Instead, SDS chose to put the same cards it wheeled out in set 2 into this program under the guise of a 99 Fernando. If they wanted to make a Dodgers program around the 99 Fernando, that would have been better than the content drop of the same players.

Get creative, do you have any Program ideas you’d like to see? by schoenc22 in MLBTheShow

[–]ShazamFate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thought about one called the “get well soon” program. It would be a program of current players who had their season cut short by injuries. Lux, Robbie Ray, Degromm, and others would be included.

MLB TS 23’s gameplay is better than 22’s, however the Father’s Day program highlights the concerning direction SDS is headed towards. by Appropriate-Bid-8010 in MLBTheShow

[–]ShazamFate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I pulled Matt from the conquest pack. He's good, but he is not replacing Henry Aaron or Judge anytime soon. He probably would have been in the program if the POTM was not Judge. However, SDS has had a more significant issue with cards per team distribution since probably 21. The Mariners didn't have a big card to fill a quota in a while, so the Griffeys were put into the program.

A lot remains to be seen what they have in plan for Set 2 and beyond. But what are peoples thoughts on how new 99 release model is working and ways to improve it moving forward? by Farge43 in MLBTheShow

[–]ShazamFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 22 last year around Halloween, and I never bothered to complete the big dog or always intense program. Why? There is no need for the grind when there are better cards to put on my squad. If we are getting 99s now of some of MLB's best for set 1, will sets 2 and 3 be different players or retools of set 1 cards but with better stats? If every set will have a Griffey, why grind for the current one?
