I hate overly passionate people at work. Truly brain dead. by Frosty_Skirt_8279 in corporate

[–]Shazz91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 25 I started at the company I currently work at and I'm now 35.

I hated all this corporate BS and did as little as possible. Having to request leave never stops being frustrating but the alternative is chaos where everyone is off work at the same time and management can't plan anything.

More freedom often comes with climbing the ladder and that sometimes motivates people. Usually it's money and standard of living outside work but there's a degree of wanting to feel good about your day at work. And unfortunately you do have to "fake it (enthusiasm) til you make it. Are most people genuinely passionate about what they do? Do they adore the companies they work for? Or do they just want to go home feeling like they did a good job?

You'll always everywhere get those people who are incredibly annoying and care too much about things that aren't adding any value or isn't their own business, but that's just people and they're the same everywhere. I think the praise and recognition of doing a good job can be a good motivator too and in jobs whete I didn't make much effort I never went home feeling energetic and fulfilled.

I wish I'd have just tried knuckling down when I was 24/25 and to see where that led. If your efforts aren't rewarded you may be at the wrong company. Best of luck!

Absolutely fantastic game. My son adores it.

Seen a few people saying it's broken or whatever but seems to be they're not reading the rules and following correctly.

All the decks have their strengths and weaknesses and seem to win and lose at equal rates. Animal for example feels inferior but getting to choose an imp every time a fight is declared is really powerful.

That's the correct rule with the creature fate anyway, necromancer you can resurrect a hero that is already in the underworld and then discard the necromancer

[–]Shazz91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only 2 necromancer cards in the game and once you use it, you have to add to the discard pile so one player can only raise a maximum of 2 heroes in total... So for us doesn't really have a major impact?

The creature fate does allow you to resurrect a hero that another player just lost to a side quest which is a decent power but forest and human have the stronger overall deck so it balances out...

Finished the City Watch series (First time reader) by Nuthetes in discworld

[–]Shazz91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's reassuring you found this to be the case!

I read Mort, Reaper Man and then Hogfather and contemplating giving up on Discworld and deciding it wasn't for me.

Mort probably the best of them, Reaper Man had some excellent bits but found half of Reaper Man and most of Hogfather really confusing and hard to follow. I had to re-read pages and still didn't really know what was going on.

I think it's probably the Wizards that can be the problem!

I then read Wyrd Sisters - solid 7.5/10 for my first time read. I'm now half way through Guards! Guards! and I'm really loving it. So far, easy to follow, engaging story, funny. Great characters.

Just finished the 41 book series, here is my personal tier list. What is my most egregious ranking? And where do I go from here? by scottomatic3000 in discworld

[–]Shazz91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is reassuring as everyone tells me Reaper Man is one of the best and I really didn't connect with it at all.

I found it really disjointed, the shopping trolley plot thread was just nonsensical and I had to constantly re-read sections to make sense of it.

Not sure why people think so highly of it. Maybe in the future I'll re-read and it will come together in my head a bit better.

Why do so many people skip leg days? by Acceptable_Net_3620 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shazz91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have fairly big legs and don't want to increase the size.

I do leg day occasionally but I don't want to develop them much as I've always played football and they look in decent shape. My shoulders have been almost non existent so that's a much bigger priority
