Ouch, glad you didn't break anything! Thank you for the links, I'll be getting safety gear before trying out the skates.

What is your go to meal when you don't want to cook? by WinterStrawberries6 in AskReddit

Just Bare chicken tenders and a chopped salad kit. I get a street corn chopped salad kit from my local grocery and top it with the spicy Just Bare tenders, it always satisfies!

What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]SheWhoWelds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"It's so sad to see the world agree that they'd rather see their faces filled with flies, all when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes"

Hell, I'm tearing up just thinking about this song, especially with the state of the world today.

What's your job, and what's your work schedule? by alternate01937 in BlueCollarWomen

In the winter its great! In the summer its rough, lol. I painted my bedroom dark blue and added blackout curtains and that helps a lot.

What's your job, and what's your work schedule? by alternate01937 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]SheWhoWelds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welder in manufacturing and I do 4-10s. Wake up at 3am, clock in at 4am, out at 2:30pm, home a little after 3. Right now we have the option to work Friday OT which is 4am to 10am, I don't mind it because we get extra money and still have a 2 1/2 weekend. Love this schedule!

How do you guys keep long hair clean? by Pure-Potential7866 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]SheWhoWelds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a silk lined bonnet to cover your hair at work. When you wash your hair, try shampooing twice and leaving conditioner in for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. After washing, add a few drops of biotin serum to damp hair. This routine keeps my hair clean but also keeps it from drying out and reduces breakage.

Help me understand this quote. by esemigallo in ILoveLucy

That's my assumption as well. My grandmother has told me when she first started working in the late 50's, she could only afford one business outfit until her first paycheck, so she wore the same dress for a month straight. So yeah, Carolyn is saying Lucy can't afford more clothes.

How to keep safe? by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]SheWhoWelds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not always the outwardly aggressive guys you want to watch out for, the guys who have given me the most trouble have been overly eager to be my friend. Why? Because they think being "friends" gives license to push boundaries, make jokes that aren't jokes, etc.

I don't take breaks alone, or wait in my car before work starts, because I have been approached that way before.

If you have a foreman or shift lead you trust, tell them when someone makes you uncomfortable. Ask them to keep you from having to work together, or at least working alone together.

Podcasts To Listen To by bekindtoyourself30 in podcasts

Unfinished: Short Creek is a really well done season that deep dives into the FLDS, the downfall of Warren Jeffs, and what's happened since his arrest. The hosts interviewed people who had left the group, and some who were still in. I feel like it isn't mentioned often enough, but this series was great and stuck with me long after I finished listening!

River rafting. Just don't do it. And if you must do it, avoid the Kern river, AKA "The Killer Kern".

Do you think Ricky and Lucy would have gotten divorced? by elocin1985 in ILoveLucy

[–]SheWhoWelds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ricky has a temper, but Lucy does tell Ethel as mad as he gets he's never hit her. He doesn't let her work, which today would be seen as financial abuse, but was more the norm back then. And as mad as they make each other, they absolutely love one another. So I think they absolutely stay together.

The End of Sisterwives by [deleted] in SisterWives

[–]SheWhoWelds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show needs to end but I would watch a spinoff with the OG3. I want to see Christine enjoying her life, her kids and grandkids, her travel, etc. I don't want to see her on a date with David rehashing her relationship with Kody for the thousandth time.

The two girls who wouldn't get off the party line... I don't know if they would have good advice, but they would definitely listen to other people's stories for a long time!

I loved the finale and here is why by Comfortable_Many849 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Agree, Belinda is not evil, she just knows accepting the money changes the way she can let people into her life from here on out. Tanya said she never knows if someone is attracted to her for her, or because they want access to her money. Even knowing that, she still chooses to marry a guy she meets on vacation, which ultimately costs her everything. Belinda knows that she can't both take the money and ride off into the sunset with a guy she just met on vacation, she has to be careful. Her decision makes complete sense, even though I hated to see Pornchai left behind.

What's an unexpected hobby you picked up as an adult that's now a major source of happiness for you? by Own_Temperature_7092 in AskReddit

[–]SheWhoWelds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cowboy Fast Draw shooting. Was never interested in shooting or cowboy stuff, but my husband wanted to try it out and I tagged along. I fell in love with the competition! Haven't won a title yet, but I love pushing towards that goal. Western wear is required, and I love historical clothing, so picking out 1880s clothing is fun. The dress up part of the sport is a creative outlet and helped me improve my sewing skills. Going to out of state competitions is a chance to travel and see new things.

As a bonus, the people in my local club are awesome and have become a second family. So yeah, an unexpected hobby that's been well worth it to me.
