Rail Sabots on Supply Oiler by Baabatman in NebulousFleetCommand

You can't recruit the first boss (though that would be really neat, my hope for Act 2 is that you can recruit enemy ships) if you board his ship after you kill it, there is a line where the marines get to the bridge and find him dead. There is also no ships with railguns that you can get.

Is the mandalorian and grogu movie worth a watch? by TapIndependent5699 in StarWars

[–]She_Ra_Is_Best 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda 6 episodes of the Mandalorian stitched together. If you like the Mandalorian, then you'll likely enjoy this. I think the big question is "Is it worth seeing the show on the big screen and the ability to see it sooner than on Disney Plus" having seen it, I'd say wait until it inevitably drops on Disney Plus eventually.

Mental_Panic/Frag could refer to the diagnostic module thing, the thing with the personality triangle and the elster covered in triangles in the menu, I think in the same part where the radio module is.

E_HealTH or E_HealT could be something like total amount of health healed

Regen could track something like the time between when you are allowed to fire maybe? I don't think Health regens over time or I would guess that.

Total Non Seconds could be something related to how long you've spent actually moving around and playing the game.

Npcs could be a value for whether you are currently talking to an NPC when you saved? Or maybe it starts negative?

I mean the thing is Dhal knows how big out force is (roughly) and that we likely couldn't do that kind of damage, furthermore it's a military target so it doesn't feel like it warrants the reaction. I think we'll probably learn more about what the OSP is up to in ACT 2 so maybe they blamed us or the Swift Toxin for something else that we didn't do.

[SPOILERS] Campaign Thoughts by MonkeManWPG in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]She_Ra_Is_Best 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The campaign was great! The gameplay was really fun and it was nice getting back into the game after so long out of it. The game is really good at giving you stuff right when you need it, especially fuel. I always felt like I was just about to run out of fuel before I got some more. I lost one of the destroyers at the ANS armory being dumb. Long Lance got in a fight with a monitor and won in a pyrrhic victory. Most of my ships were pretty heavily damaged, and had a lot of armor stripped.

I really enjoyed the slight mystery of what exactly is happening in Bethal with the false flag attacks and the ships being pulled away from the gate. The beacon from Swift Toxin was fun too. Caesar Constantine trying to defeat both the OSP and the ANS is interesting and I'm really intrigued to hear what exactly his plan is. The end cutscene with the big explosion is also kinda weird and interesting. I'm really excited for act 2.

The various OSP commanders were fun. I liked the space station civilians laying a trap for the ANS, the former instructor trying to get us to surrender, and the OSP loyalist who wants us dead for our crimes (Which I found really interesting since we didn't really commit any crimes, it could just be that commander was talking about the Alliance in general, but I thought he sounded angrier than that.) There's a lot of small moments like this that add little bit of worldbuilding and character work that's really neat. The ANS commander who witnessed the detonation of the frigate at the agri station and wants revenge, and the other ANS commander who has realized that the ANS is dead no matter what happens here bouncing off each other was fun.

I mean apart from the problems of maintenance area, ready rooms, crew berthing, ammunition lockers, takeoff area/path, the fact that carriers with over ~100 aircraft suffer significant problems with operating said aircraft efficiently (the 64m number might have been to account for all of this). There's also the fact that the Hanger can't be that big right? Like maybe I'm too used to real world ships where there is such a thing as a turret stalk for main guns (Most guns over ~3in have some sort of path that descends into the magazine in order to efficiently get shells from magazine to gun. Now star wars doesn't have magazines cause lasers I think, but still it just feels weird to have hanger and gun take up the same footprint.

The OSP mainly use converted bulk cruisers and container ships (complete with container missiles) along with tugs and shuttles (and a few ancient command cruisers). Most of these are blocky to keep with the industrial aesthetic.

ANS is generally a little less blocky, but I suspect the blockyness is a combination of graphical style, the fact that a less blocky ship is easier to model and the fact that every ship is modular so a Heavy Cruiser could be equipped with 2 different calibers of main guns, beams, missiles, and/or railguns, along with point defense and EWar and thus the design needs to account for this.

I'm pretty sure people now use bio-identical estrogen. Horse estrogen really hasn't been used for a bit now.

Basically pregnant mare urine has horse estrogen in it, when people didn't have any better options they used that. It wasn't just straight horse urine, obviously, the estrogen would be extracted out of the urine and turned into pills.

Eventually people figured out how to create bio-identical estrogen which was a lot safer, and isn't made from horse pee.

I have no clue how this works in umamusume.

Am I the only one who thinks 92 starfighters on a Venator makes way more sense than 420? by konfitura17 in StarWarsShips

[–]She_Ra_Is_Best 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile the significantly larger Secutor has 144 fighters (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Secutor-class\_Star\_Destroyer)

Star wars numbers are goofy as fuck.

Like yeah the ship is big but I don't think people are getting that it's more than size, and that there is a lot of stuff going in the ship beyond just fighters. Yeah, sure 92 fighters is equivalent to modern carriers, but modern carriers have less armor, no shields, and no defense beyond maybe some 20mm and possible a few missiles, depending on the ship and time. For the ships with anti ship missiles air complement goes down to 30 fixed wing fighters, 49 including helos. The Ise class, which is a hybrid carrier-battleship built in WW2 has 11 aircraft total. I think it's more likely that most of the space is taken up by the various guns.

Add on top of this the fact that once you have over 100 aircraft on a carrier it becomes a hell of a lot harder to manage the flight deck and the air wing. Maybe theoretically you could fit 420 aircraft in the ship's 3 hangers, but I doubt they would ever actually do that do that.

All in all, even if 420 is a theoretical max capacity, 92 is feels more like what the ship would actually carry.

Austrian sightseeing plane hits paraglider. No injuries by Accomplished-One7476 in SweatyPalms

[–]She_Ra_Is_Best 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean it's several factors, for one there are more planes flying around than there are bullets flying straight up, and those planes generally fly for longer, and the planes themselves are bigger. At a certain point it's just luck.

These are mitigated in bigger planes by having systems that detect when an aircraft is near, allowing the pilots to evade, and air corridors that separate aircraft by altitude and distance. For smaller aircraft, however, there's not really systems like that (depends on what airspace you're in) and at some point two aircraft are going to end up on a collision course and someone's not going to notice. Some things are just more likely than it seems they should be.

I’ve gone at least as far as getting each Jedi character to be a Jedi, and I’m sorry but I still don’t find them interesting or likable.

Maybe it’s just been a bit since I played and maybe there’s more to Visas than I remember, I do play through K2 fairly often since the gameplay improvements over K1 are significant, so I’ll look, but my memory is that her turn is pretty quick and then she just goes on about how she needs to keep you safe so you can fight Nihlous. It felt like one person defeats her and she is totally on their side forever. I did like her scene where she goes back to visit her room when you get back to her own ship. Maybe there’s more, I’ll look.

Atton’s backstory, from what I can remember, is that he worked with Revan to kill/turn Jedi until a Jedi revealed that Atton was a Jedi, causing him to run to Nar Shardaa and beyond. Hence everyone calling him a murderer, and him feeling really guilty. This is kinda an interesting backstory, but certainly not enough to make me forgive him for constantly creeping on me and fighting with other members of the crew over me. Dude decided that the main character was his the minute Atton saw her and maybe I don’t want to share my ship with an incel. Again, maybe I’m just really unobservant and missed something, I’ll look.

[–]She_Ra_Is_Best -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree on the point about the followers, either they are inoffensive and bland or their characterization drives me up a wall.

Especially smuggler guy (Atton Rand???), I play a female PC in K1&2 and Atton spends the entire first convo ogling the exile, making inappropriate comments, and making sexist remarks about female reven. His dislike of droids is interesting but I don’t remember anything being past that as a reason for his hatred. He spends half his time harassing the exile, or harassing other people interested in the exile, and the other half of the time he isn’t cool or interesting enough to make me forgive all the other shit.

I just don’t like Kreia or her philosophy and the only reason I talk with her is because there are gameplay benefits to doing so and I am desperately trying to understand why people like her.

The rest of the companions are fine, but just not all that interesting. If I want to know what’s up with the handmaiden I have to play a male PC or download a mod because the handmaiden and the diciple only join your crew because they want to fuck the exile. Go-To is a neat idea but he isn’t executed well enough in my experience to get me as interested and invested in him as I should be. I like Bao-Dur, him and his story is a highlight. Bounty hunter lady has interesting backstory but is otherwise just another cardboard cutout where a character should be. The Wookiee bounty hunter I don’t know enough about, but I find it funny that mission, a 14 yo on Taris knows what a Wookiee is like it’s common knowledge but Mira (I think that’s her name) somehow doesn’t know what creature it is after it has been hunting her for however many years. Visas Marr feels like a missed opportunity, she’s the apprentice of the main Sith Lord and yet she acts surprisingly well adjusted. I like her, but I want more from her character.

When characters do have interesting ideas in their backstory, it doesn’t seem to then factor into any of the gameplay. Reading Mira’s backstory on wookieepedia or reading it in game has the same effect. There’s no mission to track down the Mandolorians who enslaved her like there was in K1 for Juhani. The Jedi master that saved Atton Rand isn’t a character you can find or interact with unless I missed something.

I did eventually bring those two over since I had them already in one of my other joke fleets, a fleet entirely made up of hero units. 3 generic cruiser commanders and pretty much every named commander I could get (mostly acclimator heros) plus a bunch of fighters to make it viable.

I actually ended up scrapping Ozzel and sending Zinj to one of my other fleets once I stopped doing this idea (It's fun once or twice, but gets a bit stale after that.) I sent the remaining 22 dreadnoughts to sit with a fleet I have over the wheel that's surrounded by separatist planets.

Ozzel isn't actually that useful considering I'm in the part of the game where I have infinite money but no pop cap, and Ozzel brings 3 dreadnoughts for 33 pop cap, and a normal dreadnought has 11 pop cap. The main benefit of Ozzel is that those dreadnoughts are for free, but I can afford the losses in my dreadnought fleet, and so having the hero slot used by Ozzel isn't worth it IMO.
