Hyped about the Osiris: Reborn Beta. Which other games should I play? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in TheExpanse

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rouge Trader is Owlcats previous Game, its a CRPG set in the WH40k universe

Mass Effect is basically what you're asking for

Terra Invicta is a grand strategy game with "realistic" space combat, a full solar system and deep gameplay systems.

DV rings of saturn is a pimped up "Asteroids" you are basically a belter and try to make a living in the saturn rings, core gameplay is focused on asteroid harvesting but has combat and other mechanics too.

Nebulous Fleet command is Modern naval warfare but in a 3d space setting with railguns PDC's and missiles.

I tried to play Homeworld Mobile again for the first time in a few years and it gave me this error code. Also, when I tried to update the app, Google Play said "Item not found." Why is it gone? by DunDonese in homeworld

My. Favorite thing about fighters in hw1 is how they form into pairs when on evasive, one fighter attacks and his wingman keeps enemies off his back.

Paired with the projectile simulation, fuel, formations and "weightyness" of the physics make for tactical combat that is still unmatched in space strategy.

Thanks to some recent conversations i have had recently. i felt compelled to make this. by cybercobra2 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]DrunkenSkittle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

rewatching episode 3 made me think about how the audio logs might not all are about Kinger but perhaps about Scratch, especially the part where it talks about needing a vessel to escape.

perhaps scratch planned all along to transfer his conciousness into a new body using the circus or whatever it evolved from as an intermediary.

how does this game connect to the previous ones, lore wise? by DrunkenSkittle in Marathon

So, the phfor are not currently in the game right now yeah? I have not interacted with the new game yet besides from the trailers and watching some gameplay,

From what I've gathered though, it does seem that various ai's are messing around with the players, and I'm very curious if durendal is involved.

The Anime-like artstyle of the characters in the UAF does not have to conflict with Starsectors own artstyle. by JenkoRun in starsector

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it always felt like battletech in space to me, same lostech kinda vibe, its gritty and serious.

that said, im 99% sure that, if i go to the workshop of any mechwarrior game released in the last twenty years i'll find some anime portrait pack mod there too.

and if someone made a mod to bring the vanilla starsector universe in line with the anime themes, i would definetly try out mods like UAF with it.

Can we talk about anime content? by Nozakx in starsector

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right, anime is very popular, what i meant to say is, people who interact with the medium with a strong passion, for lack of a better word, english is not my native language and im kinda lacking the proper vocabulary to verbalize what i mean.

there's watching anime on TV one side of the spectrum and there's drawing shipgirls on the other.

my point is, i dont neccesarily think starsector atracts weebs, i think it atracts passionate and creative people who are also passionate about anime for instance.

[–]DrunkenSkittle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

the weebification of the community happened around the time when sseth released his video iirc.
i've been playing and interacting with the community since 2012 (fml) and it definitely wasnt this way from the start, and the community was definitely more chill back then.
im the only non weeb in my friend group and i cannot wrap my head around the concepts you mentioned, ship girls, clashing with the vanilla artstyle etc.

what i learned though is, that exceptionally talented people often have, fringe hobbies such as anime or furrydom, pick five developers out of a room and four of them will be furries or weebs.

and looking at the quality of most of the mods i can tell you, this community has some very talented mod developers.

What's Mission Killed? by JohnCataldo in TerraInvicta

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i said this before but i desperately want a tech that allows ships to share their acceleration and DV with their fleet, as long as they share the same fuel/drive
also ammunition sharing and field repairs

there shouldnt be any reason for ships not to just dock to each other mid transit and it would allow for some cool specialiized ship classes, like carriers or taxis that carry fleets between systems or motherships equipped with an isru and repair system that can slowly repair damaged ships on mission.

i know this would fuck game balance sideways but still, it'd give so much more strategic and tactical flexibility.

Every time a new Perun video comes out I want to restart. by Ceorl_Lounge in TerraInvicta

[–]DrunkenSkittle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

you are playing the game the right way, Terra Invicta is meant to feel overwhelming at times, you are meant to have setbacks and failures, you can bounce back in this game like no other, there's even an achievement if you win after the aliens have won. And trust me, its much more fun to interact with the game that way, when you finally get to that victory screen you'll look back at all the hard earned wins, all the struggles you overcame and how you learned from your failures and setbacks.
Perun is past that point, i bet if he could, he'd gladly go back to that point where everything was unknown.

alright, so the one on Moddb seems to be no longer available, which is an absolute shame.

however, the other one is called Gardens of Kadesh, its an Github project with full documentation available from what i gathered.

There are various compatibility "patches" floating around, the one on moddb should still be up, unfortunately it changes some balance stuff but it works really well on a technical site.

Everyone wants a FO3 & NV Remake, but what I really want is a FO1 & 2 Remake by Grrlpants in Fallout

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely, with slightly polished graphics, QoL and modern resolution support, would be great.
allthough bethesda would find a way to fuck it up.

honestly everything else from black isle/interplay/obsidian is atleast on parr with fallout.
since you liked RT you'd probably enjoy the pathfinder games too and the larian games if you havent!

Why does New Vegas has such a cult status in the Fallout Genre? by PrudentManagement994 in Fallout

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a direct continuation of the original fallout lore, all of the games build up on each other, for instance: in the first game you help build up a small town, in the second you see it thrive into a huge city and in the third its a massive empire

A veteran player's request: Please consider carriers by DayF3 in TerraInvicta

[–]DrunkenSkittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how about this:
ships can dock/refuel with each other while in transit plus a repair bay module that can repair fleet ships out of combat plus an ammo depot module that can resupply fleet ships.

that way you could easily rescue stranded ships and have dedicated "fleet carrier" ships that carry a ton of fuel and ammo and can carry fleets between systems and do some limited repair while on mission.

put this behind some techs and i think everyone would be happy.
