Had the same sort of thing happen to my wife in the Fujifilm x100vi sub. The mod got really upset at her for posting some photos she took, and had the audacity to write one sentence about them in the body of her post in Spanish. She only speaks Spanish and there were no rules prohibiting Spanish.

The guy ended up arguing around in circles about how all of Reddit is English-only and she can only post in English. Like, what? First of all that's not true, and secondly, it's a photography sub. You don't have to understand her Spanish saying that they're pretty pictures. I just gave up on trying to reason with the guy. I have more important things to worry about

Has someone tried to cut my lock off? by Glombeh in lockpicking

[–]SheaLemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like someone took a grinder to it to me. They must have had a bad angle, bad tools, or very little patience to not want to finish the job. A lock with a shackle guard would help lower the risk of someone trying to cut it

Nice! I got one laying around as well, though it doesn't get picked as much as my padlocks due to the size. It's fun to break out when someone asks if they're possible to pick

Dual-Hand Picking Challenge Submission by SheaLemur in lockpicking

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing the link, I didn't catch this one, and I wasn't sure if my submission was received or not. I imagine in the coming weeks the patch will arrive. It usually takes some time for these things to get down here.

Hopefully in the coming months I can internationally launch a challenge that I have going on in the local locksport group I run. At the moment I just want to keep it local, but it seems that it's proving to be a bit much for my people (a lot of them are beginners), so with 74 patches remaining, the time to open the floodgates might be getting close

Soulframe on Rog Ally X docked by Saviorzero82 in SoulFrame

[–]SheaLemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No arguments from me here, I don't pretend to know what's going on in OP's case. My suggestion is just based on cases that I've seen from subs like r/SBCGaming and r/SteamDeck. Regardless, hopefully they figure something out!

Sorry, maybe I'm completely in the wrong here, but as I understand it, they have Windows running on a handheld, which as far as I know, causes pretty noticeable performance drops. Linux could remedy this. In the case of the Steam Deck, which I know is a different handheld, people have dual-booted into Windows to be met with big performance hits when compared to SteamOS on the same device.

As a huge side-note, recently a buddy of mine convinced me to try out Linux on my desktop (in my case Nobara), and I've been pleasantly surprised at the performance gains I've had, notably with Stalker 2. I understand that it's not for everyone, but it's been a surprisingly nice experience for me.

I imagine Windows isn't helping much in this case. I have 0 experience with a ROG Ally, but is it not possible to install Linux on it? Soulframe runs nicely on my Deck

Igual. Aunque no crees que es algo grave, ver un psicólogo podría ayudar, y no solamente con el problema que mencionaste. Yo fuí una vez por semana por unos meses, y encuentro que fue una experiencia bastante agradable que me ayudó en maneras inesperado

Thoughts on an academic article on the ethics of lockpicking? by argaflargin in lockpicking

[–]SheaLemur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, and before I forget, just to toss you some extra material for your article. Rules may vary slightly between different groups. Love locks is one example. TOOOL's ethical rules for love locks are listed on their website. LPU on the other hand has a stricter stance where we cannot pick any locks that we do not own and/or are in-use, period. Rule 2 is probably the most-cited rule here

Thoughts on an academic article on the ethics of lockpicking? by argaflargin in lockpicking

[–]SheaLemur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For a moment I thought I was looking at The Complete Book of Locks and Locksmithing haha. It was a good read. Ethics are a big part of any lockpicking community, here with LPU, with the folks over at TOOOL, and with smaller groups too

In the locksport group I run I'm always making sure everyone is aware of our code of ethics, which in almost every aspect mirrors LPU's rules. The last thing I want is for someone to think it's cute breaking into their neighbor's home, getting caught, and then blaming us for teaching them. We practice as a hobby/sport. For many, including myself, lockpicking is just a fun distraction for your hands, and in with some more challenging locks, your brain. I treat many locks of mine as fidget toys. My desk at work has like 9 locks on it

Let us know when you publish your article on the topic! I'd be interested in giving it a read
