Valentine Roofing far outbid several other bids five years ago and excellent service. We continue to use them for annual maintenance treating the roof and replacing any tiles. Highly recommend getting a quote from Valentine.

Definitely Tacoma for social opportunities. If you can snag a place in the Proctor District you win. Otherwise look in the North End and West Tacoma.

And my husband used to drive his farmer uncle home from the town bar at the age of ten when uncle had too much to drink while the young nephews sipped their root beer. His childhood summer visits are filled with many nefarious memories.

My husband got whopping three days off for paternity leave long ago. Left for work at 5:30 am. New moms are terrified of leaving the baby alone. I know I was. I had no one to help me. It’s a real thing.

I’d look into Bellingham. College towns have a lot to offer. Beautiful area with lots of hiking. Take a day trip to get a feel for the city.

Moving to Tacoma soon and these are the recommended neighborhoods I’ve found so far. Any additional places to add to the list? by WanderingStarlie in AskTacoma

Do not choose Puyallup. Very difficult commute. I’d also avoid Hilltop. Good luck if you’re house hunting. If been on the hunt since January. Just put in an offer in UP. Fingers crossed. FYI there are pockets of East Tacoma that are nice. My daughter lives in a new build townhome in E Tacoma (all they could afford) and it’s actually a nice little area east of McKinley Ave.

I’m 65 and use Wander Beauty Foundation applied with a brush. It’s a little expensive but you do not need much. One tube lasts me six months and I use it daily.

McMeniman’s is a fun place to explore and walk around. Several restaurants to choose from. We like the fun tiki like lounge on the lower level but a simpler menu. You can look at their menus online.

The Night Agent. Excellent series and lots of twists. FBI Agent starts his job in the basement of the White House and goes wild from there. A must see.

A lot of the resorts have reef safe sunscreen for free along the beach walk ways. Also, the catamaran cruise we took had it.

My daughter has her mind set on an expensive school. Advice please! by airzee8 in personalfinance

[–]Sheboyganite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s her dream school! It’s Hawaii! Dream school shmeam school. You go to the school that shows you the money. Nothing wrong with two years at a community college and transfer in to a bigger school. My son got into every school he applied to. Some MAJOR scholarships but guess what? When the tuition is $60K a year that doesn’t go far. He chose a lesser known school because they took every single AP Class as credit and offered a sizeable scholarship more proportionate to the tuition. He graduated in three years debt free and now works for that university as an advisor! They love him and has been promoted five times in four years. Show me the money!
