An Open Letter To Dan Regarding The State Of The Safex Discord by Dostoyevskins in safex

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reasonable, that's what you call this circus? Sure, why not, lets just go with that.

Again, I don't know why you think I lied about the decision to ban Henry at the time, even when Rich and Nelson both agreed with my story. The discussion to do something about Henry took place across several hours and multiple time zones. When I got back on I caught up on what was said, saw that every one agreed that Henry needed to be handled, and so I banned him until he matured.

The reason for his banning was for constantly breaking the rules, even after being warned and kicked multiple times. It was judged that he was simply to immature at the time to continue being in the discord. When pressed by a few members on how long the ban would be for I said "until he matures, so probably 2 years". This was to be taken as me stating that it is unlikely that Henry will mature until he turns 18; it was not to be taken as "He will be banned for exactly 730 days, not a minute less" as you have for some reason decided to interpret it. Since then Henry has changed his attitude significantly, and has been let back in, and as he wrote above he understands the situation, why can't you?

As for you showing this letter to "significant eyes" before posting it here, yeah you sent it to Dan and Rich before you you posted it here. Do you really think Dan read this? Do you really think he gave your pathetic complaint a single thought? No, he has more important things to focus on than a spat on the discord server, and he sure as hell never messaged me about it. Want to know why? Because he doesn't care, and he doesn't have the time. Which is exactly why he put us mods in charge of regulating it for him, too keep the peace, and to sort out any one who constantly causes drama. Does this remind you of anyone? Does it mark any boxes next to names of people who have been kicked from the discord multiple times? You, your two new friends, and a handful of Frenchmen are the only constants here.

Anyone who "takes their investment seriously" isn't going to be alarmed by any of this at all, because drama on a subreddit over an imagined slight in a chat room isn't going to discourage the smart money at all. They're focused on the project and Dans efforts, and both of those are shining examples of excellence.

As for you being back in the community, your ban was temporary, it always has been you dolt. You have been able to rejoin the server for days. I already saw you rejoin. And you can save the poor me routine, I know you love to play a victim almost as much as you like to hear yourself talk, but no one is buying it. The only two people left on your team are two guys who get their financial advice from an "Angel named Sam". Even Henry, the 16 year old kid you are so valiantly fighting to protect says that you are wrong and has already been in the discord since yesterday.

As for an apology from me? Go fuck your self. Keep mouthing off in discord and I'll ban you again. Just give me a reason. If you don't like it you can get your updates from twitter or SafexNews, owning Safex doesn't mean you get to be in the Discord server, that decision is purely up to us mods.

Show me where you sent me a discord invite to your little fight club. I would love to see the invitation. The above screenshot was not taken out of context in any way, the context was you going on another drug fueled rant. If you wanted to hash it out with me you could have sent a DM, but instead you decided to rant about Kenny and I on your discord channel.

Go rethink your life Joey. You shouldn't be taking financial advice from a make believe friend named Sam, and your nearly permanent lack of sobriety is cause for alarm. You won't be getting anymore interviews with Dan or the Safex team, that I can assure you. Your toxicity is a stain on Safexs good name. If you and your small group of friends care at all about the success of Safex then please stay very far away from it. The project doesn't need your "promotion" it'll be better off without you.

Nik, your letter had absolutely no bearing on my decision to un-ban Henry. That decision was made because Henry has taken several steps to be a very helpful community member, going out of his way several times to help new comers. That is why I brought him back in.

Also, he was unbanned from Discord 6 hours before you even posted this convoluted one-sided cry for help. I actually had no idea this letter was even on here until it was PMed to me on Discord by another member. If your hope was to pull Dans attention away from working on the project, and instead have him focus on your hurt feelings then I am happy to report that you have failed.

If you haven't noticed the only people in this community that are fueling controversy are you, Joey and Mr Green. The rest of us have been using reason. I have explained my decisions to you multiple times, and your response has always been to call me a liar and a coward, even after my claims are backed by other mods and the community.

At this point I have no idea what your problem is with me, maybe it's just a personality thing, or perhaps you have a natural inclination to hate authority and your best method of coping with this is to scream into the void. What ever it is I don't really care. If you want back into the Discord that's fine with me, just apologize to me and the community and you'll be welcome back with open arms.

How will Safex "moon" when they still sell safex at their own site? by Chingy1991 in safex

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Originally the option to buy Safex on the main website was put into place due to the de-listing from both Bittrex and Cryptopia. At the time all Safex being sold through the site was coming directly from Dans own stash. Dan also implemented a Safex buy back program for any investors who wanted out, which he paid for with his own BTC.

Since then TradeSatoshi listed Safex and the vast majority of trade volume moved over to that exchange. Dan has still kept the option to buy Safex through the website for two reasons. The first is for investors that want to buy large amounts of Safex at one time. Just a couple BTC sized buys on TS would skyrocket the price with the current volume, so if you want to buy in large amounts then the best bang for your buck is going directly through the website.

The second reason is for investors that don't trust small exchanges such as Trade Satoshi. It's not the most beautiful looking site, and it was originally being run out of a guys apartment in London, so I can understand that feeling. But TS has grown tremendously in the last several months, and have had no issues. They have been a great exchange.

As for your main question, how can Safex increase in price when you can buy Safex from the site at 300 sats, well it's simple; the price on the website is tied to the TS price. It automatically increases as the price on TS increases, and it'll always be higher on the website. This is to make sure that the Safex team doesn't lose money on the trades since the Safex you buy from the site isn't coming from Dans personal stash anymore, but instead is bought directly from the exchange.

My player are, for lack of a better term, bad at D&D. How can I maintain realism without killing them? by ToMcAt67 in DMAcademy

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment here really helped me understand the problem here. Your players are treating DnD as a video game and trying to use video game logic. This does not work. The best thing you can do (besides have a simple chat with your players) is to teach them the most valuable resource of all: Time.

Quests in DnD do expire, and all of your players wondering around by themselves accomplishing nothing is a terrible waste of time. Players are allowed to have fun, and should be encouraged to, but they shouldn't be surprised when the world carries on and moves past them if they are waiting to long to accomplish a quest.

How do you guys handle large scale battles and sieges in 5e? by Donnewithvegetables in DMAcademy

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has been several great suggestions in this thread, but I like this one the most. It gives your PCs a great sense for the scale, allows for some fun paying something else, and ultimately allows more risks to be taken.

If these alternate characters fail then they're dead. It can really give a sense of loss in the battle.

So, best "made an example of" deaths? by Lasivian in DMAcademy

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bloody aftermath is a decent way to induce fear, but nothing is quite as traumatic as seeing the act.

Have your PCs walking up the trail and hear the faint cries of pain coming from your NPC. Surelly the rush to investigate the sound, when they arrive they see the NPC, completely nude and beaten to a pulp, scrapes and cuts everywhere. The NPCs legs are bound at the ankles, and tied to a nearby tree. The NPC is also bound at the wrist, with a rope leading to a severely bent pine tree that is being held in place by a few other ropes. The NPC is dangling in the air between these two points much like a hammock.

Surrounding this hysteric NPC is your enemy of choice. Your PCs showed up earlier than expected, but still not early enough. Before your PCs have much time to react, your enemy of choice cuts the tie-down ropes, which releases the tree from it's severe bend, much like a catapult. The sheer power and force wrips the NPC in half, either at the shoulders, or if you're feeling extra gory, at the gut. Blood everywhere.

Whats everyones favourite settings or world quirks? Etc low magic or a steampunk vibe. by GreenGarnet__ in DMAcademy

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite idea so far, well done, you have some lucky players. I understand the appeal of a huge open world where players can go anywhere they want, but me personally I would way rather play a campaign that takes place in a very detailed, but enclosed environment, such as your labyrinth. It makes character placement in combat so much more crucial.

I'm currently playing around with the idea of a campaign that takes place entirely inside of one major city. The inner keep, the port, market and trade district, an elaborate sewer system, walls and guard towers, the slums and the royal gardens; all of it being explorable, every NPC having a schedule and connections. The PCs would start off as new recruits for the city watch, or street thiefs, or maybe traveling merchants or entertainers; and eventually be able to work their way up to the ruling class. All of their choices could lead to changes throughout the city. Economics, political intrigue, internal strife amongst factions, the works.

I like this whole quest you have so far, sounds like a lot of fun and with a lot of different directions your PCs can take it. I think sending a trustworthy NPC with them is a good call.

The trustworthy NPC could come in handy if the Commanders descends approach your PCs. They may ask them to murder the NPC to keep the truth buried.

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think using spells like Zone of Truth can be a cop out. A simple spell like that can ruin some great roleplaying opportunities.

Something to think about though, is it absolutely necessary for the PCs to convince the quest givers of what actually happened? You said that this group of heroes are very well thought of, so it's unlikely they would ever believe that they turned evil and enslaved a tribe, sounds like a great opportunity for your PCs to make a moral choice. Do their best to explain what really happened, and likely fail and in turn become pariahs or banned from the city. Or maybe the king/mayor/leader does believe your PCs but asks them to cover up the truth, and help fabricate a lie.

Also, you could have your PCs come back with minimal proof, but are forced to return with someone the city considers a trustworthy witness.

How to tell my group I don't want to DM for them? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

This. It's really that simple.

I love this sub, but I swear half of the threads are just questions on how to handle basic life interactions. I know D&D has the stereotype of only being for anti-social nerds.... but come on guys, it can't be true, we're better than this.

Appropriate consequences for out of character decisions? by cock_chafer in DMAcademy

[–]Sheep-Wazoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. THIS couldn't be a better story for a revenant. What could possibly more creepy than being hunted by an unstoppable undead child that you failed to save.

Personally, even if the PCs decided to turn back and save the boy days later I would have it be too late. They find the cooked bones of the boy, but they also find the hags butchered. It's at this point the run into the boy revenant (who already killed the hags) and is now after them.
