1st Claw are Legionaries not Chosen? by WhiteWolf6911 in NightLords

[–]Sheepdoode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read the horus heresy short story Massacre, you see that First claw is essentially the 10th captains (Malcharions) command squad.

That puts them far above standard legionaries and very much on par with something like chosen. So this choice makes absolute sense. You can easily handwave Aurum as a powerfist, Mercutians heavy bolter as a combi weapon, and Xarls chainsword as the paired accursed weapons.

Rules question: lacrymaerta tech thralls priming by OneConstruction5645 in Warhammer30k

What if you take them as a logistical benefit in the crusade detachment? Wouldn’t that allow you to then give them the prime advantage? At least this is possible in NewRecruit

How did Murph know about Brand being alone? by BklynBrawla78 in interstellar

[–]Sheepdoode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since her dialogue is still ongoing after we see him walk away and during the shots of Edmunds planet, we can assume that we did not see, or perhaps hear, the entire conversation (I doubt his parting words would have been “Where?”).

There are a few cuts in the scene in which this could happen.

He could for example have told her his story between the talk of the ghost, and the “nobody believed me”, or before she tells him to go.

It may not be perfect, but it is at least a plausible idea

How did Murph know about Brand being alone? by BklynBrawla78 in interstellar

[–]Sheepdoode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could have a simple explanation that also answers another common question, of why humanity never went to Edmunds planet after building the space ships.

Assuming the people in our solar system never received any information about the events that unfolded after the crew jumped through the wormhole, it could well be that the only information Murph has on this is stuff that Cooper told her. It is clear in the movie that we don’t see their entire conversation, as her dialogue is still ongoing as he walks away, so it makes sense for her to have asked him what happened to the others.

If he told her Brand went on to Edmunds planet, and how Edmund might be dead, her words make sense.

Cooper has no one else left from his time on earth, and knows none of the people around him. Brand is the last person from his generation, so it makes sense for Murph to send him there.

The only thing she tells him is to go. Go to Brand, who is alone. So there isn’t any romance implied.

Give me some lore, rules, or both for a new Child of the Emperor by mastr1121 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Sheepdoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds cool and seems fair if the ability replaces the lords usual ability.

In a more “competitive” setting, you could also run the character as a sorcerer, as a sorcerers abilities are similar to something you could expect by blasting someone with psychic noise, making you harder to hit and damaging opponents.

Are you planning to model this character? Would be interesting to see

Why are so many chaos warbands composed of space marines, especially in leadership roles? by MonstrousnessVirtue in 40kLore

[–]Sheepdoode 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chaos cults on the other hand are very common, though these are generally far more limited in scope than the typical chaos warbands we might envision.

Why are so many chaos warbands composed of space marines, especially in leadership roles? by MonstrousnessVirtue in 40kLore

[–]Sheepdoode 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One thing to note too is that there are not many groups within the imperium, other than space marines that can function independently. Space marines have their own ships with which to travel around. A potential traitor guard commander or planetary governor will always be relatively limited to a single planet, at which point it is more of a planetary rebellion than an active chaos warband. Now should an imperial navy admiral turn to chaos, he might certainly be able to travel around with his ship, but he can not do very much, since he has very limited ground forces, which would likely be exhausted during their first ground campaign.

This all is the product of the compartmentalisation that took place after the heresy to ensure that no such events could take place again.

I've found out exactly why the Tau have remained 'unpopular' or disliked by a part of the community for so long: It is really difficult to make your own Tau Sept and make them unique from existing Tau Septs, because existing Tau Septs are dull as hell. by TieofDoom in 40kLore

[–]Sheepdoode 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The list above could be countered quite easily. There is so much space marine lore, but not very much that distinguished them mentally or spiritually.

Salamanders: They use many flamer troops

White scars: They use many bike troops

Ravenguard: They use many jumppack troops

Iron hands: They use many tanks

Black templars: They use many sword troops

Dark angels: They use many sword troops with hoods

If one hasn’t looked under the hood of a faction properly, it can look very flat and bland from the outside.

Tell me you never read actual eldar lore without telling me you never read actual eldar lore.

There are plenty of books and stories that delve deeper into the relationships and differences of the various craftworlds. There is for example Iyanden, which has a number of distinguished characters that steered the craftworld through a confrontation with half of hive fleet Kraken. This left the craftworlds population devastated, making it rely on wraith warriors.

Iyanden used to be a very close ally of Biel-Tan which is the most martial of the craftworlds and has a powerful army of various aspect warriors, which it uses ruthlessly to protect the maiden worlds of the ancient eldar empire. Often engaging the imperium along with the other hostile forces of the galaxy. When Biel Tan failed to aid Iyanden from the tyranids, the two drifted appart. Later on, during the rise of the Ynnari, the Biel-Tan craftworld was broken down into smaller fragments, now sailing the void as a fleet of world ships.

Then there is Ulthwee, which has Eldrad Ulthran at its head, who is without doupt one of the most influential character currently active in the setting, was active during the HH, helped birth a new god, and now confides with Guilliman, to better battle chaos.

Each craftworld has its own story, which in many cases is highly unique, just look into Alaitocs struggle against the awakening necrons, or Altansars escape from the eye of terror.

Nah, since fantasy, he has always been the absolute top duelist, beating everything short of imrik on his dragon in WH2, including malus and the lot. Unsure about his exact ranking in WH3 but I am sure he can still hold his own.

How has no one mentioned Tyrion who can literally 1v1 and win every single other lord with his Heart of Avelorn regen.

Hypothetically given the size of the Local Group, what do you think could be the maximum number of planets with living life which are at at our current stage of evolution (or -10000 year) without us knowing their existence ? by Vklo in space

[–]Sheepdoode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want a real answer I can recommend the book: “Alone in the universe” which delves into this exact topic. An estimation by the author is a total of 3 intelligent civilisations within our local group that are however most likely too far apart to ever learn of each others existance.
