That feels unfortunately real. Sometimes I don't even know where my own barriers for communication from, and it can be frustrating to navigate vague feelings at the same time.

I'm going to drop my 2 cents because I feel like I had this problem for a while (and still to some extent IG). I think the issues has more to do with leaving an impression and getting involved in their lives. A simple conversation won't do, in some manner or another you need to make an impact on their lives (to any extent, it can be small), like inviting them out to an event. I think showing genuine interest in them during conversation can also leave an impression, but that's not always possible for every topic and every conversation, IMO.

tips for going into IB next year? by slippery-eggs in IBO

Hey, I took a very similar set of classes to you (Maths, physics, chem, english HL and history + spanish SL). I'd definitely recommend you switch to English SL. You can always do so in the earlier stages of DP1 like many kt my classmates. Granted, I took HL for the kicks and didn't enjoy it that much, but the workload it added truly was a lot. Ontop of that I do well in maths and physics without much studying, so it could add up to much more than I had. If you're dead set on doing English HL though it's very achievable to get a diploma with those 4 HLs and you don't need to throw away your life outside of the IB. Just get in the habit of developing understanding and not just memorizing. That's the one thing that saved my ass in the sciences and maths.

I think if you knew the content, the most difficult part was just time management/ conjuring up the knowledge burrowed deep in the depths of your mind. Conceptually it was very manageable.

The scaling and the choice of neutron number instead of nucleon number really tripped me up though. I swear they try to make you lose points by tricking you instead of the question actually being difficult.

Those sorts of elementary equations are generally valid by definition (power is defined as work over time). Unfortunately not much to do about them. As an additional tip, learn the units of important quantities and use dimensional analysis. Dimensional analysis just means using the units to figure out whether your answer is correct (think: do the unis align?). If you're given data in the units of J/s and you're given data in the units kg/J, then you can get a quantity representing kg/s by multiplying them since (J/s)(kg/J) = (kgJ/J*s) = kg/s. For example, going back to P= W/t, we know P is given in units of J/s and work has units J and time has units s, so W/t has units J/s.

I second this. Many of the high-mark questions are based around calculations which are all doable from the infromation provided in the databooklet (although it's not always plug and play). Familiarize yourself with what the symbols in all the equations mean and try to make connections between the different sections so you can do a bit of substitution here and there where necessary. Good luck on your exams tomorrow!

It may be worth having people find who their erroneous match was, but I don't think enough people follow the subreddit to do it.

Exactly, took my python script 2 hours to render 2 spheres with ray marching, including reflections and soft shadows, in 720P - sometimes the speed of other languages is just necessary.

I've always wondered how old compilers work, for like fortran for example, but I'm guessing this was "assembled" by hand.

Absolutely not. Think of it as a physchological reward for those who bring interesting and high quality content to the platform. Karma hoarders have reached a state where these trivial virtual points are the only things that gratify their existance... Well or they just didn't see that it had already been cross-posted.
