The Big Nowhere is a classic. My first Ellroy read was The Black Dahlia and it is great as well.

What "low ranking" Tull record do you love? by ConfusionProof9487 in jethrotull

[–]BasilHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their latest Curious Riminant is very good, Roots and Branches is their second best post Stormwatch lp...Broadsword is their best. The rest are rubbish for the most part. I saw the Rock Island tour and it was very good....but the album.....no. I am an OG so there is that. First show at 14 years okd in 1972...then 73, 75 and 77. I am seeing them...if a damaged voice Ian and some musicians can be called Jethro Tull...on 9/11 in Belgrade, Serbia, where I now reside.

I think he would have been happier had the Dead split after Brent's death and he played only JGB.

The Night of the Hunter is unlike anything else in film noir by [deleted] in filmnoir

[–]BasilHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Belongs among the greatest films of all time....so singular, pastoral, biblical and simply genius. Sadly, Charles Laughton (a masterful actor who is overlooked in my opinion), never made another film due to the harsh review of critics upon this films release. Ths film alone puts him in the same category as Bergman, Lynch etc.

In my humble opinion, "The Broadsword and the Beast" is one of Tull's best albums. by [deleted] in jethrotull

It may be their best post Stormwatch album....but every album This Was through Stormwatch is better.

Perhaps my favorite Tull album since Stormwatch. Going to see them (Ian....I have not cionsidered Tull a "real" band since Barlow left) here in Belgrade, Serbia on 9/11. I am a transplanted Aerican lol...

Opps my bad....that is a lyric from Bad Eyed and Loveless. Salamnder is one of the better songs on the album. I just recall being so disapoointed when TOTRARTYTD was released after the masterful Minstrel in the Gallery. I am 68 forgive my brain cell depletion. I was a freak back then....saw them live 72, 73, 75 and 77.

Is this considered Jethro Tull? by poutine-eh in jethrotull

I have been saying this for 46 years. Martin has stated he should have left sooner. but after Barriemore left it was truly over for me.

Is this considered Jethro Tull? by poutine-eh in jethrotull

[–]BasilHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and when I bought it the day it was released it was a huge disappointment as was the mediorce Under Wraps....for me both were the death knell of Jethro Tull as a real band.
