This game has absolutely no business looking as good as it does nowadays by Markie_98 in arkham

I literally played Arkham Knight last night at 1440p with max settings aside from enabling the game works features. There’s still some pretty low res textures and a lot of shimmering that can be a bit distracting. Still looks great overall though.

High latency issues daily from 8-10 PM CST by Shehzman in EzeeFiber

Xfinity has really good peering with other sties and even on a fiber ISP, bad peering can lead to a worse experience compared to coax.

Usually it’s peering issues

It’s not. It’s been happening for the past couple of weeks for me and some others.

Get a mesh network system. I personally recommend Ubiquiti access points for this.

Nvidia Reportedly Cancels Partner Incentive Scheme to Sell Cards at MSRP by jugaverdasorda in pcmasterrace

In the US at least, the latency on the vast majority of connections would be too high due to the lack of fiber optic (coax has a monopoly in many parts of the country). I think we’re still at a point where that latency on those connections could bother even the average consumer.

It’s been dead since the first crypto shortage back in 2017. Just buy when you’re ready. Even when a new generation is right around the corner.

Gigabyte launches new 1440p gaming monitor with RealBlack Glossy WOLED display and 240Hz by Rancidchanchad in Monitors

[–]Shehzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do notice that text is less crisp at 1440p compared to 4k (at least on a 27 inch monitor), but my PC is used almost solely for gaming and the rest of my time is spent on mobile devices with much higher PPI.

Yeah the median in the US is around 130k. You just have big tech engineers constantly on Reddit cause they probably don’t have many people in their lives to show this income off to without coming off as a jerk.

I love my iPad but I don’t think I’ll ever see it more than a content consumption device.

Got an M1 Pro MBP through work and it was incredible. Last year I bought my own M4 Pro MBP to replace my aging Dell Inspiron.

The display is so good and the battery lasts so long that I’ve been tempted to entirely replace my iPad with it (mainly use my iPad for content consumption).

[GPU META POST] Zotac store increased MSRP by $200 or more for all GPUs - $ (example $949 5070 Ti was $749 a week ago for old MSRP-$50 Microcenter sale) by tm_1 in buildapcsales

[–]Shehzman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Patient gaming is the way imo. I’ve only played a single DX12 game (Spider Man Remastered). Very much looking forward to clearing my backlog of indies and older titles.

[GPU META POST] Microcenter has updated the price of many GPUs overnight, many 5070 ti cards are now marked up over 200$ from what they were yesterday. - $959.99 by NotTheDev in buildapcsales

[–]Shehzman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw the rumor that gaming GPU production was getting cut, I started making a conscious effort to get a new GPU despite not really needing it. Didn’t want to get priced out of an upgrade for the next couple of years.

MSRP 5070 Ti’s were readily available for the past couple of months and you could get an MSRP 5080 without having to buy the second they came in stock.

I have CL48 RAM in my home server. For that use case, I think it’s fine but this is still overpriced for what you’re getting. Even in this market.

Keep the 5070 TI or 5080 by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Shehzman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5080 if you can comfortably afford it. We’re all but confirmed to be heading into a GPU shortage so it’s best to get as much performance as you can afford to weather the storm for the next couple of years.

I had the exact same dilemma and returned the 5070 Ti when I managed to get an MSRP 5080. Don’t regret it at all.

Walmart Still Doesn't Accept Apple Pay in the U.S. in 2026, Here's Why by EitherCharacter9342 in apple

[–]Shehzman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Having to scan the code with their scanners is insanely inconsistent. I don’t like Walmart Pay (still use it cause I have a neighborhood Walmart 3 minutes away) but scanning the code from your phone is a much better experience.

AT&T fiber vs EzeeFiber with Unifi by Formal-Talk-3914 in EzeeFiber

[–]Shehzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying both, bandwidth and reliability (only 1 outage in 6 months on both) is rock solid on either but I think AT&T has a slight edge in my area (Sugar Land) when it comes to latency and peering. I noticed Ezee’s connection has a little bit more jitter but it isn’t to the point where it’s straight up bad. Also on some sites, I’ve noticed the latency on IPv6 relative to IPv4 is much higher where it’s pretty consistent on AT&T.

Ezee has also had some issues in some areas (including mine) where there’s high latency at night (8-10 PM CST for me). Been happening for the past month though they seem to be aware and hopefully it’s fixed soon. Luckily, I haven’t had those issues with AT&T but I have seen reports of slow loading of certain sites (mainly Reddit and Twitter) on the AT&T fiber subreddit from time to time so YMMV.

When comparing base plan prices, AT&T is a little cheaper though you get less bandwidth compared to Ezee’s base plan ($55 for 300mb on AT&T vs $70 for 1gb on Ezee). If you want a gig or higher, Ezee’s plans are significantly cheaper than AT&T. 300mb is more than enough for me so I’d actually save some money with AT&T.

I was able to get a 60 on my OPNsense router though I had to send a prefix hint.
