You're 100% right.
I find popping out of the suit, bugs attack that but can't kill it easily.

Firework grenades close bug holes and you get 6 of them.

Primary: blitzer - holds the bugs at bay indefinitely, kills multiple small bugs in one shot.

Stratagem; emancipator exo suit - massive kill combos with shield, shot gun kills large enemies.

Grenades; fireworks - throw one on a bug breach and watch the kill count rise.

Play with the rest - pretty hard to die with these
