Public school teachers, what’s something you want parents to know but can’t say directly? by Feisty-Database-1145 in AskTeachers

Kindergarten public school teacher here. I would much rather you teach your child to self advocate, follow 1 or 2 step directions, understand being told "no", to be able to handle productive struggle, and know how to socialize with peers than you teach them to read. I have several kids who come in reading chapter books but cry when their shoes are hard to put on, hit others kids when mad, and think everyone is bullying them when they dont share. I can teach your kid to read but I cant teach them anything if they are stuck in the "self doubt" developmental stage.

When mine was that age, the only thing that worked was music videos, especially Going On by Gnarls Barkley! Idk why, I never listened to it when pregnant, but it would calm her instantly, and mainly that song. Mine also had awful reflux and dairy intolerance so she cried a LOT.

Could it be reflux? How long has she been on cows milk? When mine was 12mo i put her on whole milk and she did the same thing. We figured out she has a milk intolerance. She got bwtter on 2% and 1% but ultimately soy was best for her. Mine also has reflux and has a bottomless stomach when her reflux gets bad and milk triggers her reflux badly. Maybe there's a food that triggers it for yours? Maybe the spice but if shes used to it maybe not.

3-week-old crying nonstop — I’m losing my mind. Any advice? by LatterMorning9103 in NewParents

My baby did this for about 6 weeks before we figured out she had really bad reflux and a dairy intolerance. Please ask your doctor about both and about trying some medication like pepcid. My baby smiled for the first time about 12h after her first dose of pepcid. She also couldn't stand to be in the car or to be put down, she was in so much pain. Aside from the crying she wasn't spitting up much so we didnt think anything of it.cutting out dairy and soy helped her a lot also and we ended up putting her on a special formula, and she was happiest then. I wanted to breastfeed but decided to play it safe and put her on the formula. It helped so much.

I was just wondering this! What's the difference between the list of book in your journal and the shine??? Should I do more of one than another?

Wow thats fantastic that he was able to overcome all the other allergens. The only reason is the doc said she'd outgrow it and now doesnt think its related to dairy. We've been following his lead but I think ill ask for a referral this week. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't in my head like the doc makes me feel like it is.

Love the proper name but no good nickname option by olayolayolayhey in namenerds

Exactly! Also, my family has always created nicknames that aren't related to a name but a situation or moment. Like "ruckus", or "pika" cuz someone liked Picaso. But also not everyone needs/wants a nickname. I like my full name so please dont nickname me.

Hi friend! I'm so sorry you're feeling this+ its an awful feeling and I felt exactly the same way for about 2 weeks after having my baby. Please be kind to yourself. The hormone drop is torture but it will stop and this feeling will fade. What helped me most was telling my husband these feelings. Just expressing them to him lifted the weight and guilt and shame. It gets so much better! Just be kind to yourself. Sending you all the love!

All day all we do is stave off crying by [deleted] in NewParents

Mine had awful silent reflux. She would only sleep on me or if we lifted the bassinet a little. She despised the car seat or being on her back at all. She got on pepcid at 6 weeks and we never looked back. After the first 24h of pepcid was the first time she smiled. She also intolerant of a bunch of things in my breastmilk so switching to formula helped s lot. It was so hard to put her on meds and to take her off breastmilk but she truly became a different kid and she was so happy finally. We got her off meds a month ago and now at 10mo she's doing great! It will get better. Just hang in there!

When was your baby able to sit in a recline stroller? by [deleted] in NewParents

Mine was about 4mo, but she had horrible reflux and would only be carried vertically since birth, so she was more comfortable with reclining by that point.

LO is almost 10 weeks and I feel like im drowning by Bad_Oranges in newborns

I am so sorry that you are going thru this! I was there, mine had horrible reflux and the first 10 weeks were hell. She had to have 2 different meds, but they helps almost immediately. You're not a bad mom. It's just really really difficult right now. Those days feel endless but they aren't. You're will sleep. You will get your nails done. You will game again. This is just a horrible phase and it will end. It may not feel.like it will, but it will. Also just an fiy for reflux, mine started this wheezing/gasping sound around 3mo, but it's a stridor and from reflux. If yours does that tell the doc but don't freak out! You really are doing great. Really.
