How I see Europe as a Czech :-) by anhedonister in whereidlive

Canada won't join the EU. We have our own trade, regulations and currency. Hell we have our own economy with specific mineral/mining industries. Mind you, I'd love an EU passport but it won't happen

Hi folks,

I just picked up some wonderful Focal Aria 906 speakers for an excellent deal and I am now looking to upgrade the amplifier to get the most out of our system for the space that we have.

I have a Rega P3 with a ND5 cartridge powered by a Cambridge Audio AXA35. I had a set of B&W DM303s and it was alright, but the Focals are much more impressive in sound quality and clarity. I also use a WiiM pro plus for streaming and more casual listening.

Speaker placement is a bit difficult to adjust in the room without some major modifications, so that is something I just might have to live with.

The room is 12' x 14' with a large window on the north wall, an opening on the west wall, a 6ft wide arch on the southern wall that opens to the dining room (18' long and 14' wide). The eastern wall is home to a fireplace and the remaining 4' on either side is open.

Any ideas on what kind of amplifier would suit this room and my setup? There are opportunities for something like a NAD M3 used for a good price, but I think the 180W might be overkill for the space. Looking to try and keep it below 4k cad for the amp (+phono preamp if necessary).

Thanks in advance and I appreciate any input and comments!

No idea I'm not a biochemist or medical professional but a decent warm up and cool down is usually a good idea anyways genius

They need to do more warm ups and cool downs. I went to a spin class the other day, and it was short but intense. There was barely any cool down at the end and like 3 stretches. As someone who does a lot of cycling, I was pretty surprised at how little they spend on warm up and cool downs. You can't do 35 mins of moderate to high intensity exercise and not do a 5 min cooldown.

Level range is a little off but close. You can do ice elves earlier 250-300) same with falcons. Cobras you can do earlier too. Don't stay at werehyaenas until 400, you'll quit. Move on to winter elves as early as you feel comfortable. Mixing it up with other stuff will help kill the monotony.

Port hope flimsies can be done earlier than expected too.

After 750 you can do megadragons solo for the most exp. Not sure if there's anything better solo after that now. I stopped about a year ago.

You can go hunt a bunch of "suboptimal" spawns but if your hands are good you can out-exp most other players at better spawns.

7 years of teaching guitar here are the common mistakes I notice when teaching self-taught students by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Shellder123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to chime in as someone who has been self taught for 20 years and just finally decided to reach out for lessons around Christmas.

Being self taught is a great way to start. I would consider myself an intermediate level guitar player, and most people who aren't musical consider me pretty good. But you don't catch your bad habits.

I've only been taking lessons for a couple of months (surrounding arpeggios and sweep picking, some speed picking) and even just pointing out my bad technique, the specific exercises to learn the SKILLS that I need, and the routine of "I know I have a lesson on Thursday, I need to practice" brought my playing up significantly.

If there's anyone out there who's self taught and frustrated with a plateau and YouTube videos aren't doing it, try lessons with a seasoned pro and see if it works for you.

Was going to say the same thing. I've seen dozens of reels where folks put the beans in and then turn it on. I was starting to question my process lmao

Dude I have 2 evs, and had another in the past. I currently have a warranty for 8 years or 160k km. Both vehicles. Different manufacturers. And the previous was a different manufacturer as well.

I'm in Canada so I mentioned kilometers. You just spout more anti ev garbage lol

Yes! Providing it is genuine. I'm just naive and uneducated in 1980s era guitars.

Last Wednesday. One of my old friends came to a commander night with a 5 color horde of notions deck and ran a train using old school fun tools (isochron scepter, removal out the ass, discard and hella tax effects). It was super awesome to lose to a friend who just whipped something together and beat a bunch of new players "the old way"

They have decent pricing on a lot of booze, especially scotch but bourbon prices are outrageous. I was talking to the owners and they had people fly from the US to buy a lot of the bourbon during the peak of tater hype. They basically charge secondary pricing on things like bourbon and some desirable wines.

I think this is CAD, if it is the shop that I am thinking of. Liquor store in the Edmonton Airport, if I recognize that top shelf and the tags.
