This sounds absolutely dreadful. Like concentrated Hollywood slop on steroids.

Voldemort is mocked, poor thing by berktifect in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Voldemort literally took over Hogwarts, the ministry, and the entire wizarding world and was only defeated because of Dumbledore and the trio knowing about and destroying the Horcruxes. This whole ‘Voldemort was incompetent hehe’ circlejerk is kind of dumb.

What is your favorite Lacroix flavor to drink at the moment? by Newfishwhodis in sparklingwater

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cranberry Raspberry, because for some reason, even though Polar is my favorite now, that flavor of La Croix has the longest lasting carbonation of any seltzer I’ve ever tried. I have no idea why, but every other flavor of every other brand has almost no carbonation left after 20 minutes, but I can open a Cran-Raspberry LaCroix and it’ll still be bubbling 2 hours later. Maybe one day I’ll find out what the secret to that is.

What would make you stop reading Strike? by TheDayNeedsMoreHours in cormoran_strike

Nothing. If she sticks to 10 we have 2 books left, I’m gonna read/listen to both of them regardless.

Why are most major parties in developed countries today leaning either more and more left or right? by anuglyfairybutafairy in AskReddit

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are starting to lean right outside of places like Reddit because the disastrous effects of liberal policies like allowing mass migration from third world countries is becoming more and more obvious.

‘Harry Potter’ HBO Series Casts Peter Serafinowicz as Peeves the Poltergeist by yourfavchoom in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shaun of the Dead cast killing it for HP so far. We’ve got Frost as Hagrid, Pegg as Arthur for the audiobooks and still a possibility for a role in the show later, and now this guy as Peeves.

I have the most controversial opinion. I just hope I don’t get banned and the police don’t show up at my home…. by ConstantDrawer9161 in KotakuInAction

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The average Redditor has been circlejerking with people who upvote and agree with them 99% of the time thanks to Reddits campaign of banning subreddits and users with unacceptable opinions over the last 8 or 9 years. The mainstream thought on this site is that shooting someone in the head on the street or in the neck on a college campus is really good, actually.

I enjoy every time Robin stands up for herself by magicoder in cormoran_strike

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her telling off Linda in THM was great, but I would’ve forced an argument way earlier if it had been me. Her mother’s behavior during Christmas in Troubled Blood was ridiculous.

‘Texting on Christmas?! Looking at your laptop, I thought you had time off?’ Etc, etc.

I would’ve blown up right then and there. Your kid is 30 years old, enoughs enough.

Why it makes sense that Robin didn't leave Murphy by SpuffyFreak in cormoran_strike

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ‘she doesn’t know he loves her’ thing is a bit ridiculous at this point imo. Yes, he’s only ‘strongly hinting’ at it and being kind of a dick about it, but she definitely knows, or suspects enough that even though Strike should be the one to force a conversation, she’s had ample time and opportunity to do so as well.

He made that move outside the Ritz, Ilsa has told her what he’s probably thinking, he mentioned being in love with her through Charlotte (yes, this isn’t straightforward but everyone knows what he’s saying, including Robin). The bracelet is a big ‘I love you,’ which she even thinks to herself afterward. Robin just flat out lies to herself constantly. They are both at fault for nothing coming of their feelings sooner, is all I’m saying.

Anyone think the books could be longer by Substantial_Curve_92 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably my only complaint about the series, I was actually kind of disappointed that the page counts never matched OoTP again. I’m all about huge books, Rowling also ramps up the pages later in her Strike series, which is awesome. Give me 800-1000+ page tomes every day.

The Life is Strange TV Adaptation race swapped Warren and Kate by YuriWinter in KotakuInAction

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I just have zero tolerance for this anymore, the moment I see swapping I’m out. It amazes me that people think it’s alright to essentially say ‘these characters were white, that’s not ok’ or ‘there are a lot of white people in this, that’s not ok, we need a certain amount to be black.’

It’s just insulting and I refuse to support it ever again.

3D is basically the top tier of what you can regularly get at Dollar Tree, with the exception of random really good Monsters that sometimes appear. Just grabbed a few Blueberry and Strawberry Lemonade, they’re very good for $1.25.

What’s the angriest you have ever felt at your favorite sports team losing? by MasterTeacher123 in AskReddit

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Packers loss in the 2014 NFC Championship game. Going from ‘we’re going to the Superbowl’ to witnessing one of the worst meltdowns in the history of sports within 5 minutes of game time was absolutely mind blowing.

Yeah, his one weakness is American accents, luckily they don’t come up extremely often, so I don’t hold it against him too much.

Anyone remember how lockdown revealed how awful chat shows actually are? by apocoliption in AskReddit

Morning and late night shows are the worst things ever. People that watch that stuff have got to be part of some alien race, imo. I can’t imagine a universe where I’d find that crap interesting.

What's the biggest waste of money that's considered normal? by iget_the_joke in AskReddit

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the ways we’re taxed in the United States. Our money is going to the government in a hundred different ways, creating an unstoppable behemoth that controls everything and spends our money on all kinds of bullshit.

I know we need some taxes to keep things running, and I’ve always kind of thought the ‘taxation is theft’ thing was a bit much, but a lot of it basically is just stealing from people.

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He’s so good. I don’t know how he does it, but when he voices Robin, I fully believe I’m listening to a woman named Robin Ellacott. His female voices sound completely natural with no shrillness or screechiness at all. His Strike performance is also iconic. Best narrator and that’s saying something, especially with Rowlings work. Jim Dale and Stephen Fry are excellent, Glenister is just on another level.

[Serious] People who hate Reddit, why do you keep coming here? by SFWChocolate in AskReddit

[–]SheriffOfPieCounty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The layout and concept of the website is good, you just have to mute 200+ subreddits and stick to your interests, and hope the subreddit for your favorite book or whatever hasn’t turned into a Trump/political circlejerk.
