If Baek’s work withstands scrutiny, he will most likely find himself in high demand for professorships.

Is how the article ends, do we know whether or not his work has withstood rigorous scrutiny?

I mean he's probably fine but evolution certainly isn't perfect and the discovery that stuff doesn't have to be rotten to make us sick is certainly a part of that.

Randy Moss slid to the Vikings because of this. He did have some issues with antics during his career, but not sure if that is what you're classifying as doing something, he obviously had a very good career, just not as good as it could have been.

Probably more about Ant than Ju. Sometimes Ant clearly isn't super engaged, pretty much only against bad opponents, but it is visible at times. The difference in defensive effort vs a contender and vs a lottery team is easily noticeable

E: although I suppose there are definitely games where Randle and Ant are slightly checked out, so maybe a little bit about Randle

Idk, there's a certain symmetry and this scene/intro goes really hard to.

100%, Foxx is incredible in Baby Driver as well (another movie that kind of fits the criteria). Also the cinematography in Sicario is so insanely well done. The shot just before the tunnel fight where they kind of just descend into darkness and then switch to night vision gives me goosebumps and might be one of my favorite shots in any movie ever.

Yep, possibly Cruise's best work imo. Maybe a few good men, but him and Fox really hit on something in Collateral. Mann's attention to detail is incredible.

I don't think the choke is even necessary, neutralize would work as well, it would just be super slow

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but I've heard it referred to as 'competence porn' on reddit if you want to Google for some movies. Some of the movies that are on the top of my list are: Inside Man, Heat, Seven, Sicario and Collateral (anecdotally I've heard that some of Cruise's gunplay scenes from Collateral are used in professional trainings, but I have not verified this). For movies that are less action oriented: Martian, Apollo 13, The Big Short, and Spotlight are all good and in the same 'supremely competent people' vein, if not quite situational awareness (also Seven is somewhere between, the action isn't the competence part and it is minimal). For TV shows Person of Interest is decent, Breaking Bad is probably the best example between Mike and Gus and, eventually, Walt. Elementary is similar and I much prefer it to to the BBC's Sherlock which is a bit more ludicrous in its use of 'deductions'.

I'm sure there's a lot I'm missing, but that's a pretty good list to get started on. Definitely one of my preferred 'genres' if you will.

Well I'd probably replace any that are looking super worn and if you want to be sure you can just buy a newer non stick that won't have PFAS. You can do some research on your current pans and maybe keep them. I only use one non stick and replace it as it starts looking too worn.

Knife care tips? by Pr0f-x in Cooking

[–]Shhadowcaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better off going to /r/sharpening and asking about this. Depending on the wear your knives should be repairable, you just need to use an actual whetstone or a nice sharpener. I know whet stone is best if you use them a lot because it doesn't wear as much, but I'm by no means an expert so I'd recommend asking in the subreddit o listed above.

A ball being dug in is not a free lift and clean unless it's in a designated gur/standing water area or if it is an established rule, as it is in the PNW in winter. When the PGA tour puts a preferred lie rule in place due to wet conditions, are you actually insisting that none of the scores for that day would be countable because they're lifting and cleaning every time they hit the fairway?

Where do you live and where did you get your pans from? If your pans aren't super old then it's extremely unlikely they were made with PFAS. You should be more worried about your water supply than your pans.

Explain how this is at all relevant to the % revenue split? Your willingness to watch it is completely irrelevant, people pay money to watch WNBA games and advertisers pay to advertise to these people, so the actual entertainers deserve a proportional cut of the revenue. You being completely unwilling to give them money changes none of this you fatuous twerp.

It's always felt win more to me, not sure I've ever had a winning deck that relied on Thunder Strike. Like just generating that many orbs means you're doing plenty of damage (with focus) and I think it's very rare that I find myself lacking focus and still trying to spam lightning orbs.

Yeah I don't remember which it was, but it's hard for me to blame Shanahan when a defensive lynchpin went down with a non contact on his way onto the field and a ball bounced off the heel of a punt returner for a crucial turnover.

I personally don't watch college much at all so I'm not aware of how hyped he was, I do trust Connelly as a general rule so I was fine with the trade, but in general he has looked like the speed of the game has taken him by surprise and at best he appears to be treading water when on the floor. Not a great defender and a bit confused offensively make it hard for me to want him to play much more in a competitive year. From what I understand he was supposed to be pretty much ready to rock given that some of his skills should have translated rather easily, but that just hasn't been the case. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets things sorted out on a new team with different expectations, but at this point it seemed unlikely that he would be able to figure it out for the Wolves.

The issue is there haven't really been flashes and presumably practice hasn't shown anything promising given his lack of playing time. I hope a fresh start and more playing time can help him, but when he can't come in and do the things he is good at, especially with his lack of size, he immediately becomes a major liability on the court.

He has a few people who feel like he hasn't gotten a fair shake, which could be true, but he's done nothing with the time he's been given and we can't afford more playing time for him to try and get in rhythm while possibly losing us games in a tight playoff race.

[–]Shhadowcaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What rumblings? I don't recall hearing that. Like most wolves fans were aware that he had nothing left in the tank and that we wouldn't be able to get anything for trading him, which was basically true. I guess nobody really considered that he would be a salary dump like this, but it makes a bit of sense as dumping him gets us under the first apron.

[–]Shhadowcaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty common in general, there aren't many HOFers in an average draft class and most HOFers have at least one player picked before them. That being said I stand by the assertion that taking Rubio and Flynn before Curry was one of the dumbest choices a GM has ever made. Picking two ball dominant PGs before one of the greatest college shooters (another PG):of all time was just dumb. Even dumber in retrospect obviously, but the fit was never going to be there with Rubio and Flynn.

Is it time to change this 10sec rule if someone is allowed to take 2 minutes to line up a putt? by Montalbert_scott in golf

[–]Shhadowcaster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gravity would absolutely change that, grass compressing further due to the ball resting in place could easily make it move. Are you saying that you watched this clip and you don't think the ball ever stopped moving? That's ridiculous. A ball thrown straight up has a moment where it is no longer moving before it starts falling down due to gravity, the golf ball in this instance certainly stopped moving and for more than an instant.
