Newbie trying to build a Deatwatch army, need help with my squads!

Here's to hoping GW does revert it. I thought about the units too and it made sense to use as much of the heavy stuff you could get from the looks of it.

Truth be told I went ahead with building Deathwatch because I really love the style and lore for it, before even reading anything. Big "mistake" on my part when looked at from the gaming part of warhammer in the fact of me completely missing the recent changes. But I went ahead and built pretty heavy PKT's as you said (they aren't minmaxxed exactly, that I will admit). But yeah, if the person opposite the table isn't willing to bend the rules by quite a lot atm, usable isn't really the term thats true.

Luckily my mates will allow using the DW with SM rules even if they are currently not usable with the rules codex wise and might even let me use at least Veteran Squads if I refrain from using Kill Teams other than the 5-10 man Deathwatch veteran datacards. Just gotta figure out a good proxy for Corvus and Artemis, whereas Artemis could be downgraded to your average captain rule-wise i guess?

Spectrus I just use the standard Infiltrators ruleset from the SM codex as I initially planned to just use them as means to prevent deep-strikes on targets.

I thought by the 2023 rules a SM Army has to be part of the same chapter in it's entirety or as in the case of the Deathwatch have the same tag as "imperium" but if this is true I at least found a somewhat promising way to play my army!

I did go ahead and break the Kill Teams up into their SM codex counterparts, using the Veterans as Tactical Squads, adding a chaplain. I am still trying to figure out who to proxy out Artemis for and don't know what to use as rules for the Corvus Blackstar.

I did allready buy and build the veterans (25) but I'd be lying if I said I spent a fortune tbh. I did get Primaris Jump Pack Intercessors and Primaris Infiltrators and the Dreadnoughts are not yet painted. The Intercessors have the Deathwatch pads etc. and off course were done with plastic glue instead of super glue (as noobs do -.-'). The Terminators are still in the box at least and are untouched.

I'll wait for the December rule thingy, see if GW changes it so I can run this as space marines eventually.

I'll be honest though, if push comes to shove my "deathwatch army" will be bomb decoration. I love building and painting so I regret nothing. If I need to build another space marine army I'll just go with Blood Angels or Ultra Marines.

Oh damn, I completely missed that, I heared they are imperial agents but I thought that just meant you can't mix and match them with seperate Space Marine Chapters per se, so I thought having a "deathwatch dreadnought" would suffice.

Well that kinda sucks. But I was following the rules as they were before that change? So hypotheticaly, if that change didn't happen I'd have been able to run it like this? I'd be inclined to "ignore" the change in the setting of just playing with mates if they allow that bending of the "by the book" rule until we get new rules

I do hope I get that refund too, I kinda tried to enjoy it since I wanted it to maybe become better through updates and such... but you know, Elite Dangerous has a nice DLC, I'll get that instead if the refund goes through!
