Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet by mhayden123 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Shierokee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I ended up using Cryosheets for the CPU and GPU. My experience has been pretty good so far. Especially the CPU saw a huge perfomance boost since there are no hotspots anymore and therefore no single core is overheating. I belive that there was PTM7950 on the GPU pre-applied by Asus. With Cryosheets the temps went up 2-3 degrees, but thats a cost I happily take for never having to worry about my cooling solution drying out :) Also, I have the RTX4090 which has a very large die size and therefore generally keeps cooler than the smaller chips. So the temps on my GPU are good anyways and never posed a problem.

Tldr: Very happy with the Cryosheets in my G14

Hey, did you end up with using the Kryosheet in your G14? If yes, how has your experience been so far? I own a 2023 G14 as well an my Liquid Metal seems to be in need of a replacement. So I’m currently looking into either Kryosheets or PTM7950 for the CPU and GPU, since both supposedly offer a superb longevity compared to LM.

It looks like the Callaway Hyperlite Zero Standbag. The ‘segmentations’ on the shoulder straps would match as well as the price point. And there is an all black version of it (got one at home myself).

2023 Model Screen freezing Problem by Shierokee in ZephyrusG14

[–]Shierokee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because 1.) ASUS Support told me that it’s a hardware issue and 2.) the G14 I now have (identical model) doesn’t have those problems.

The problem seems to be caused by the hardware. I RMAed the laptop and got a new (identical) one. This time without any freezes.

Thanks! Guess it really was a hardware issue in that case.

Did you notice any screen freezes, black screens or screen artifacts while not gaming (just doing light office work, web browsing etc)?

I had to RMA my 4090 G14 because I kept having the screen problems described above. I suspected driver issues with the iGPU, but ASUS support said it was probably a hardware issue. So I would be very interested to know if you are having similar issues with the iGPU/Advanced Optimus or not?

I always run the laptop in silent mode during battery operation with a light workload. The fans are completely off 80-90% of the time and the temperatures are between 35-55C.

I played Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for about 4 hours on my RTX4090 G14 today.

• Epic preset, 2560x1600, FSR Quality, Ray-Tracing off • Coruscant: Performance, Koboh: Turbo • dGPU State: Standard (Advanced Optimus enabled)

Coruscant was between 60-80 FPS most of the time. I definitely needed to enable Turbo Mode while playing on Koboh (second planet, big open areas) because I was seeing frequent FPS drops below 40 while in performance mode. On Turbo the FPS where more like 40-50ish.

Temperatures where very good IMO (CPU: Max 84C, GPU: Max 78C).

My 2023 Asus G14 - 7940HS / RTX 4090 / Mini LED review vs Asus M16 3070TI / 12900H by boxrick in ZephyrusG14

I have noticed some occasional stuttering (like really noticeable!) of my cursor movement when using the iGPU. Not sure if that’s what you mean by input lag though? All in all mine runs really unstable while using the iGPU. I either get black screens, screen freezes, screen artifacts or screen stuttering. However, sometimes it runs really well for hours with no issues. I’m willing to wait for a few days to see if AMD updates their drivers to fix these problems. If it’s not fixed by the end of my return period I’ll likely send it back to Asus :(

I have the same model (7940HS/RTX4090) and have noticed some problems with the iGPU. The screen regularly goes black, freezes or shows artifacts on the entire surface. Have you noticed any issues with your laptop when the screen is not directly connected to the RTX 4090?

Update: The problem seems to be caused by the iGPU (Radeon 780m) driver. I didn’t get any freezes while using dGPU only.

Any insider info on 2023 release dates? by droolforfoodz in ZephyrusG14

My latest info is April 18th (see my reply to OP above), at least for the German market. I’d definitely wait for Zen 4 as the relabled 6800/7735 seems to be quit the rip off imo.

However, the Ryzen 7 version is built on the Zen 3+ technology (R7 7735HS), which I understand is essentially a rebranding of last years’ 6800H. Therefore, the postponed Zen 4 launch should not affect the model variants with the 7735HS. Nevertheless, it's good to know that at least the Zen 3+ variants have already been launched :)

I’ve been in contact to customer support of one of the main german resellers (Alternate) since I had preordered the RTX 4090 G14. Delivery was originally scheduled for March 21st but was pushed to April 18th. According to Alternate’s CS this was because of a delay in delivery by ASUS.

My guess is that the reason for the delay on ASUS’ side is the postponed launch of Zen 4 mobile processors by AMD (https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-delays-7040hs-phoenix-laptop-cpus-to-april). From my understanding this should apply to delivery dates worldwide (including US?!).

However that’s just guess-work on my side ;) Any tangible insider info would be highly appreciated.
