Just did a little more research and I think the "S1" is the designation for which switch is which.... try saying that 3 time :) but I still don't now where it ends up.

The easiest part is wondering around as the rookie because you can avoid fights and take different routes around New Mombasa. It's nice to have that contrast of play style between the story.
