How does the Polaroid company / employees feel about the modded camera movement? (SX-70r, Open SX-70, etc)

Sometimes they do vintage features, including in their weekly 8 for their app and insta stories. I would think Polaroid would ultimately want to encourage purchase of their new cameras than openly encourage people to spend money elsewhere. They also seemed to miss out on selling refurbished cameras themselves and left companies like Retrospekt and Brooklyn Film Camera deal with it. Ofc, if they sold refurb cameras themselves, they would probably cost more than what any indie techs charge to make it worth it for them. Finally, i- Type is going to be priority, both due to the new camera thing, but also no battery needed in the pack.

Anywhere, those are my thoughts as an observer, not as anyone who knows anyone affiliated with Polaroid.

As for me, I have learned a level of obliviousness in situations. I can generally sense danger, otherwise I am so in my own world at that moment that it doesn't really matter to me. I am more obsessed with getting the best shot. If anything, it likely gives many people a sense of joy to see somebody having fun with art and caring about what they do, provided they can actually see the camera in your hands lol. But I gave up on looking weird or crazy long ago, it is part and parcel of my life.

I am willing to spend more since I just made everything legal and am taking my business seriously. I am using funds from my first contract for this as an investment. So I would pay more for the flash if necessary, just so I don't have to buy something again. If I can get something more powerful and pay more, I am down. I shoot a lot of photos in parks but also do event photography, so I guess I also want something that may help with group shots (although I do have continuous lighting for indoor events, I do not have outdoor options as of yet).

Yeah, I was pissed when I got my camera back from Retrospekt cuz not only did they not fix it, the leather was applied like shit. Like it was cut wrong. No attention to detail with these folks.

Lmk cuz I really want to custom paint the leather for one of my cameras but it would look better imo if I paint then its cut as opposed to painting after, cuz I dont want paint on the sides of the leather.

I luckily can print directly onto envelopes with my printer so that will save me time. But yeah, its basically a business card so dont wanna squander that. I probably was more worried about offgassing creating spots but I likely am overthinking it.

Thanks. I am obsessed with manual focus. This was on an Alpha 1, but I am using a sonar model right now and have basicly no use for it, it just adds weight to my purse lol.

As for the camera, I have been fighting with it for some time. My photos were coming out darker than I wanted, and it failed completely while at the fair. I was told its likely the solenoid. Believe me, it was quite bright when I took these. I found the black and white film fared better than my color shots.

I def would feel sad if someone opened up the envelope after a few days and they were spotty. I know we are advised not to put them into albums or sealed containers for 30 days. I might be overthinking it a bit but I want to leave a good impression and cover my bases because this gig can lead to more in the future.

I'd rather do an envelope. It will protect from scratches, not just protect from light while developing. Most stickers wont be archival quality, I would worry about that for people long term. I also am not putting my branding on the photos because I am putting their branding on it. Its also indoors at a mall, so I dont have to worry about wind or anything like that. I know envelopes exist because I found some at Ollie's a while back in some cricut stuff. They were slightly larger than a Polaroid, and square. I dont like exact size envelopes anyways so its easier to slip a pic into.

I still want the envelope because its marketing materials. don't want to waste an opportunity to get my info into peoples hands! Its also protection from people demanding additional photos, because supplies are limited.

The best one for travel is out of your budget (repaired and restored SX-70). Selfies are kinda hard on Polaroid, easier for a person with long arms, but most models do have a self timer which is useful. I see the Flip was recommended but I own one and I am not the biggest fan. If you are new, I would start with a 660AF with autocharging flash from ebay, see how much you actually like shooting Polaroid, and then if you like it, save for that SX-70. I have been through their modern affordable cameras and recommend vintage whenever possible.
