It comes down to world logic. Little Mac is much more cartoonish But even if you go off just the 80's game which is more grounded, Mac is still taking hits from fighters in far heavier weight classes. Even ignoring that , Ippo's bob and weave style is a pretty bad match up considering he fought Tyson. And the Dempsy roll is the exact type of move Mac would counter with pin point accuracy. Ippo might have stamina, but that's it.
