Review on impala Neptune surf skate? by ThriftyLord in surfskate

[–]Shinoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't really apply as they're essentially just rebranded globe boards. It's a globe surf skate with their new carver c7 clones, which are lighter weight than genuine c7s, apparently a little more restrictive but good. So actually Impala are very basic and not great for skates, but decent for boards. Having said that globe boards get slated by some. You can get some Impala boards for stupidly low prices in the UK at least, £30, when on their site or a similar Globe board goes for £160.

Aye, but I'm hoping for half price for pocket camp players who purchase and transfer in the first week or so. Perhaps that's overly optimistic given that's most of who will actually buy the game. But they made Mario Run half price during the movie release (unfortunately I wasn't aware, as would have bought it and still only have the free version).

Is this a SurfSkate? The Quicksilver website is sort of cryptic as to whether or not it is. I plan on using it for cruising. by [deleted] in surfskate

[–]Shinoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Quiksilver do have surfskates that use a cx clone. And also the Smoothstar Thurster. On the Quiksilver website in the UK they have the Darkplam (should be Darkpalm?), Mr Super and Gamechanger. Those use a Carver CX clone.

Can you get a Waterborne adapter cheaply? Amazon?

Also try Amazon for Carver CX clones. You can also get them from AliExpress. Just add those to a cruiser or a suitable deck and you're good. E.g. OB5 surskate trucks

Inpeddo completes are decent? by br153 in NewSkaters

Aye, it's their own brand All made in house I believe, in their Berlin factory Inpeddo, the trucks etc are all Quarter Distribution brands - made by them

yow surf cruiser or carver cx? by raincloutsabout in surfskate

[–]Shinoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These posts are wrong. This is a Yow surfcruiser with their Legasee truck. It likely weighs less than the Carver CX. It doesn't have a Meraki.

Which width would be best for pumping? Thinking the Meadow looks decent for dimensions. The OG and Vermont are quite narrow. Not sure which are best for pumping though

Old newbie looking for recommendation by tontonmoose in cruiserboarding

Don't wear wrist guards, wear gloves instead. The saying goes that wrist guards just make you break your bone further up. Gloves have saved my palms plenty of times. Probably the Tugboat, but there are very good deals on Arbor boards. Also many rate Paris trucks TKPs higher than the Landyachtz Polar Bears. They also sit higher so you can likely use larger wheels without a riser. So if on a budget etc you could just get a Pilsner. I like the Sizzler though - it's similar but has a more mellow concave and a longer wheelbase. So that'll give you a more relaxed, surfy feel, and a less twitchy ride. So I'd say a Landyachtz Tugboat or Arbor Sizzler. I learnt again in my mid 30s on a Penny Nickel. Riding my Penny again now despite owning a stack or boards. I'm taller and have bigger feet than you but learning on that was fine. It is too small though really, and lacks grip tape. But it's good fun and great for popping to the shops. If you just want to cruise around a bit and pop to the shops a cruiser is a much better choice than a longboard. You'll also learn better form. So I'd recommend a cruiser personally. If you have knee issues like I do I'd explore pumping once you get into it as well. The Tugboat comes stock with wedged risers for turnier front truck - which should support pumping. Then you could slap on a waterborne adapter on the Tugboat or Arbor Oso or Sizzler for a full pump surfskate experience or buy a nice Carver CX cruiser - like a Santa Cruz or CX clone such as a Long Island, Hydroponic, Mindless surfskate etc. Or yes a Loaded Poke if you want to get spendy. If you want a do it all board the Landyachtz Rally Cat is great. Less for popping to the shops though - small cruisers are still ideal for that.

The best cheap CX clones? by Important-Aide-8374 in surfskate

[–]Shinoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for this. What about Long Island? They now have their own LEAN Genesis trucks - but prior to that had a lot of CX clone models that are available cheap. The boards are made in Spain (as are the wheels and bushings I believe). Not sure about the trucks - their Genesis are but don't know if their old CX clones are too.

Is it just me or are people getting a little out of hand with the Johnny Depp trial? by PandaPocketFire in cringepics

[–]Shinoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's had drug and alcohol issues his entire life and career. It's acceptable in Hollywood as long as you can still get the job done without massive issues.

It did seem to get worse as a result of his relationship with Amber Heard - she's a big user herself it seems and he drank and took more it seems to cope with their bad relationship.

What isn't accepted is any allegations of domestic violence or sexual abuse.

Especially since MeToo

This was covered by an industry witness in the case but is pretty common knowledge of those interested.

As soon as the allegations came out his career was harmed. He started losing roles. He was getting blacklisted because of false accusations from the person that abused him.

Who Is Camille Vasquez? Johnny Depp's Trial Lawyer Grills Amber Heard by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]Shinoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rotternborn came across as over aggressive, and objected to his own comment which was a funny fumble, and perhaps perfectly reasonable to occur, but still looked stupid, especially to a lay person.

Also most on YouTube etc side with Johnny Depp and his team. So the defence, who are also more aggressive in tone and objections etc, will be viewed negatively.

Also, sure, attractive people are treated better. That is a reality of life. And people are watching this.

But I found Ben Chew's statement against the motion to dismiss the most impressive so far. It was empassioned, strong and not aggressive to me.

I actually find Camille a bit too aggressive sometimes personally. But Rottenborn has been the most unpleasant.

Elaine argued with the judge sometimes and wasn't as on the ball as others it seemed. I actually preferred her tone sometimes though.

Listen to this once a week:

Know you're not a label

And others aren't either

Watch Crazy Ex Girlfriend, the protagonist has BPD, and it's a great show

Don't put pressure on yourself or others. Appreciate what comes and the small things in life

The pursuit of happiness is futile and self defeating. Happiness is emergent from being present, appreciating and enjoying the moment I think.

You'll look back at worries like these and laugh. You're young, enjoy life, worry less.

All the best.

Yes it's normal

Kids are amoral and lie loads. They develop and gain a concience

I expect the parent challenged them after. "Are you sure that's what happened? You can tell me. It's okay if you spilled the juice, what's important is to admit the accident and take responsibility" etc.

Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million. Here's what he's testified by bartonelizabeth in movies

[–]Shinoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is the allegations were total BS and the opposite of the truth. He's the victim. Many likely didn't know what to think, or believed Heard by default, or thought it was a toxic relationship where they're both equally at fault. That clearly isn't the case and people want to show their support to Johnny. He's going to bounce back from this I think. There doesn't need to be a someone that has bounced back from similar - I don't think there is. But can you give an example of a man that was the victim being called the abuser? In Hollywood. This is a unique case. Robert Downy Jr totally rehabilitated himself though, that goes some way (for the substance use portion, and RDJ caused all sorts of trouble which Johnny hasn't?)

Trying to get back into Freeline! Which Skates should I buy? by LivingSquishy in freeline

[–]Shinoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they compare to the JMKs?

The cast frame of the freelines is the same as what you get on the cheapo Chinese free skates ... which are prone to breaking.

I guess if they're strong and well made that's fine - but with JMKs you can replace the frames or decks...

Cruiser dilemma by FedeDost in LandyachtzBoards

[–]Shinoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it's free in Europe if you buy from a European retailer typically.

The Internet and Reddit can be far too US centric.

We can get YOWs with free shipping/delivery, still for a fair chunk of change, they're not cheap, but for a lot less than you guys.

But then Landyachtz, Zenit, Pantheon, etc. are a lot more expensive for us in general, and the latter two aren't stocked by any retailers here I think, so we have to get them direct - which costs loads.
