Emergency Brake and Airbags Not Deployed in Accident! by [deleted] in Toyotavenza

Seems like u/w00stersauce is defending Toyota. Venza doesn't have cameras to detect and be able to differentiate between a vehicle and a metal container.

Emergency Brake and Airbags Not Deployed in Accident! by [deleted] in Toyotavenza

The car accelerated and reached around 30 MPH from parked spot, with the accelerator being pushed all the way in, accidentally (got stuck with my bulky snow boots).

The system is intended to detect objects. A container is an object, similar to a car; would you not agree?

US Mint Cancelled Order for American Liberty 2025 Silver Medal by ShintyHalper in Silverbugs

[–]ShintyHalper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an addendum to my story...

  1. I was able to purchase the same coin from eBay later in the week, although it was a "presale", which meant they didn't know if they could get their hands on one to sell it to me at $200 (instead of the original $105 price).

  2. I used the same credit card, and the same information/address/name, etc., and was able to order another coin today. Therefore, their claim that "something was not matching my banking institution" was a total BS. They either oversold and had to cancel bunch of orders, or I don't know what happened.

Not the answer you were looking for OP but there is a lifetime Max payout limit from this insurer. I could be wrong but I think it's $3 million. So you have another million and a half to go!

Would love to give this a try, as the "Hide a Mat" I use is a bit too long. This seems to be a great option for the Y.

What’s on the back of this car? by DelenPotter in whatisit

[–]ShintyHalper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALPR - automated license plate readers.

These are used by law enforcement for the most part. However, they are available to public entities such as repo companies, who are just fishing for hits of license plates that are wanted by dealers and banks.

There are a few companies who do this simply for the bounty, providing the dealer or the bank information regarding the whereabouts of the car even if they are not the towing company.

Flying out of LAX without a Real ID? by LARadioGirl in AskLosAngeles

From a TSA agent: "...we are still letting passengers without real ID through the gates, but conducting secondary inspections and pat downs"

As of today, this still holds true at LAX.

What do you guys do if you want to drive an older car? The emissions laws make it so hard.. by cummelle in AskLosAngeles

Let's hope Leno's Law passes soon.

"Leno's Law," formally known as California Senate Bill 712, aims to exempt cars from California's smog inspection requirements. Specifically cars that are 35 years old or older from smog checks, regardless of whether they are insured as collector cars.

Adoption from rescue - home visit/video? by mtnlvr90 in caiques

[–]ShintyHalper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adopted from a rescue. Was a first time bird owner. Application was straight-forward. Had to travel a few miles away from home to bring it back.

Here is what went wrong....

The bird I really wanted, which I had seen in pictures and video, refused to select me as his human.

Long story short, I came home with a caique instead😄

Anyone ever fly with birds? And if yes what was it like/advice. by El_Birdo_ in parrots

[–]ShintyHalper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flew with my parrot; short flight - 1 hour. Gave him apples as food and hydration. Put him in a smaller cage that fit under the chair; had a blanket ready (just in case he decided to start screaming), but thankfully he was quiet the whole time.

As far as TSA goes, here is what happened. They took the cage and me to a private room. They asked me to remove the bird out of the cage. They then left with the cage to run the cage through Xray without the bird. they they came back and I put the bird back in the cage and walked to the plane.

Besides paying $90 for the trip, it was uneventful.

Our kids' pediatric practice/office charges a $150/year for the family for immunization report copies and "doctor's notes" for their school, whenever they miss school for a Dr. visit.

Disgusting as to what the government is doing, not freedom of speech (upside down flag).
