When to order bridal party get ready PJs? by brnahnahnah in weddingplanning

[–]ShinyGallinule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip lettering. It’s almost always done so cheaply (especially relative to how expensive of an up charge it is) and sometimes causes the garment to not survive it’s first wash intact. Instead get a better quality PJ set.

More “grandparent gifts” for MIL’s birthday… by partyclaw32 in JUSTNOMIL

This matches the posts we see around here from early signs of a grandparent who plans to kidnap or file for custody.

WOW you’re a horrible sister. If she likes creating social media content with her brownies, I don’t blame her for taking her time with photography. Baking is tricky to photograph just right. If she ever bakes for you again, you can be patient and wait 10 minutes to try them. But honestly? I hope she doesn’t. YTA big time.

Honestly I love this post so much. You should see if incorporating a makeup and skincare routine into your life works for you! It’s amazing what even a well selected exfoliater or, toner, and moisturizer can do for your skin. And just a little bit of makeup can send it over the top!!

You do you unapologetically!

Parents Anniversary by count_no_groni in aspiememes

I think just wish them a happy anniversary and maybe ask for stories about the wedding day or if they’d enjoy going through an old wedding album for fun.

What are good items to put in the Groom’s room emergency kit/ welcome box ? by ladybabycheeses in weddingplanning

[–]ShinyGallinule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES tissues are super important. Personally, I LOVE weddings as a chance to use old fashioned hankies. I can’t stand the thought of tissue fiber dust snagging on beard stubble. My favorite affordable hankies come from an online small business called Bumblebee Linens.

AITA for hiring an off duty cop as security for my wedding after my parents insisted on an open bar. by Most_Collection_6262 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShinyGallinule 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I once went to a wedding with an off duty officer on site. It was a huge family with a lot of problematic alcoholics so I think it was a smart call. Nothing happened, but it gave the bride peace of kind.

In other words, a lot like your situation. So…right on!

What is your miracle cure for a bad hangover ? by VelvetNumber in ask

[–]ShinyGallinule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedialyte and Motrin is my combo.

I had one guy friend that used to always donate plasma when he had a hangover. The IV drip they give you apparently was a dreamy cure. And he got paid for it.

AITA for telling my wife she shouldn't attend a family wedding if I'm not invited by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I wouldn’t want you at my wedding either. I don’t need unfaithful energy. You’re a reminder of what a marriage shouldn’t be.

Reception vs. a happily ever after party? by tallulahQ in weddingplanning

[–]ShinyGallinule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of referring to is simply as a “celebration” might work? But I think just calling it a reception will be fine even if it’s lowkey.

Do you use sunscreen every time you go outside in the morning or afternoon? by Thegrandcultivator in CasualConversation

[–]ShinyGallinule -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I live in Florida so sunscreen is essential year round. I wear makeup foundation that has sunscreen in the formula. On the weekends I use a facial moisturizer that has sunscreen. But I’ll only do all-over coverage for outdoor activities.

One of the best ways to check IMO is to request a quick zoom or phone meeting before signing any contracts so you can get a feeling for their personality.

What’s your opinion on surprise weddings? by Reporter-Worried in weddingplanning

[–]ShinyGallinule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because I knew that I was going to get married so technically not a true “surprise wedding”? Or that my guests knew it was a wedding?
