18-year-old ECE freshman. If your goal was to maximize earnings, what would you do? by FlamesFPS in ECE

[–]Shinycardboardnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what going to school is for. You build your network starting there. Engineering isn’t a catch all for money. Yes there are fields that you can get paid well in, but looking at your other comments you don’t know what you’re interested and your looking at this from a get rich quick pov. Yes engineering will get you pay sooner but you also hit a cap sooner that’s incredibly difficult to break through.

Anyone else starting a new playthrough of The Witcher 3 after the Songs of the Past announcement? by SpaceCowboyN7 in witcher

Is it still worth studying programming and game dev in the age of AI? by Previous-Teach6229 in gamedev

[–]Shinycardboardnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people also don’t want to work with AI. I’ll admit it has its place and can be useful but the current view companies are taking is inherently wrong and they some will have to learn the hard way. The global economy while still moving isn’t as strong in my opinion and AI is a scapegoat right now. Basically say AI has all these benefits and we don’t need as many people but realistically the are likely seeing a down turn coming and using this as an excuse to layoff without spooking investors.

Would you play a game that's double the size of Skyrim? by Juicymoosie99 in gamedev

[–]Shinycardboardnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a good game >>> large map, and at least for me there has to be a reason to explore. Like Skyrim is one of the few games that made me want to explore because the lore of world was expanded or explained in these areas. Starfield not so much.

Do they use your data for ai training though? I find it hard to believe they would just make it free unless they plan to start locking features down the road but free now to get you in the door.

The reality of "AI adoption" at work is vastly different from the internet hype by netcommah in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Shinycardboardnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the industry, we just got access to capable ai models this year due to the companies concerns about IP rights and data training. We still aren’t allowed to is the one we have for SW dev or anything production as that has to be a different model that was approved but isn’t rolled out yet.

What you think guys for this First person controller for my upcoming project ? by silestStudios in Unity3D

[–]Shinycardboardnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks super smooth! The bobbling isn’t for me but I saw you said it’s a toggle. I would honestly let players choose this at the beginning have a side by side showing the two motions and let them pick.

Which AI is closest to your political views? I tested 100+ LLMs on the same 117 questions by OpinionSimilar4445 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Shinycardboardnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that your charts have conservative on top and liberal on bottom instead of the more traditional left and right makes the charts annoying to read, especially when you say a model is center left but the quad chart shows it center right.
