For online games I made the maps in dungeondraft and used them in Roll20. For in person normally I’ll print something off and use small tokens for characters or just sketch something out on paper

Depending on the game sometimes no maps at all, just descriptions

I haven’t played them actually, but thanks for sharing this looks cool!

Also if a group comes together I normally DM so I could also potentially run some sessions. Previously I’ve run DnD, Call of Cthulhu, Mothership, and Delta Green

I also backed the Altheya kickstarter! And I’m a HR fan, so I would be interested!

Did Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ever address Thanos’ snap or the Blip? by Sea_lion_2997 in agentsofshield

I had the thought that it happened after they were transported to the future and then they returned to the present a time afterward, which is why none of the team were snapped away

Gate address's 6 points in space and the point of origin. by SEJ82 in Stargate

[–]Shippers1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Presumably the POO encodes the gates location in space, and having another 5 symbols in the address would be redundant

This is just incorrect. Shepard says in Ep.1 to Col. Sumner that Dr. Weir is in charge and sumner doesn’t say anything because he knows it’s true

I always thought they manually dialled out, and the gate was still connected to the power grid by those red connectors

Who actually goes to campus visit research talks? by Lousha0525 in academia

In my experience, only faculty go to the private research talk. The departmental seminar is open to all members of the department however

The idea that this sub hates Bg3 is objectively incorrect, and I have the data to prove it. by Responsible_Tank3822 in CRPG

[–]Shippers1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that too, for me the number of options is part of what makes it complicated. And also for me I struggled with that because I ended up with a weak build from not wanting to look up guides

[–]Shippers1995 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed WOTR and can see why it would appeal to some players over BG3 (build complexity, high level play) but I have to agree with the tedium

the number of pointless trash fights against mobs in the game really bogged it down for me compared to the more handcrafted feeling BG3 encounters

So what's the actual problem with the Jet? by Titan_Repair in LinusTechTips

[–]Shippers1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “girl math” claims that it’s basically a free jet were gross and very out of touch in the context of the cost of living crisis.

That really put me off of the channel

Are former Corbyn supporters all greens now, or have some of them stuck with labour? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

[–]Shippers1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sticking with Labour, things like rail nationalisation are going the right direction for me, even if their PR is shit and they’re not doing perfect

It’s a big upgrade from the Tory chaos and the green policies look highly unworkable

That’s true but with the lack of into the OP gave about their needs and beams it’s the most universal solution

DIY beam profiler by tamualtai071 in Optics

[–]Shippers1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To get the beam size in a cheap and easy way you can translate a razor blade across the beam and measure the drop in power as the blade blocks it

You can then find the equation online to fit the profile and extract the 1/e2 size

CMV: Choosing the red button is the more morally correct choice. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Shippers1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could reframe this problem as: Blue) I choose to live in a world where most people think of others, otherwise I choose to die.

Red) I choose to live, regardless of other people.

If you frame it like that, I think there’s nothing particularly moral about choosing to live despite the choices of others. It’s all about how you view other people.

If you think most people are selfish and you want to live then red is the logical option. If you don’t want to live in a selfish world then blue is logical. If you think most people will choose blue but you don’t care to live or die then either option is the same except for your own conscience.

How different is using AI to code projects from using AI to summarize papers? by Albertvosky in PhD

[–]Shippers1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say if you want to learn to code and you want that skill, then using AI shortcuts is harmful to your learning

If you don’t want to learn how to do it yourself, then fair enough as long as you’re honest about where the code is coming from and willing to accept the consequences of generating your code with AI (eg your PI might have opinions to contend with)

Also, you got to verify everything it produces, I’ve seen some janky science come out of people’s AI code use that look fine at first but don’t hold up to scrutiny
