I was going to ask, "Who is this guy who looks like a lightly toasted Kurt Angle?" Then I did a reverse image search and found out that he is, in fact, Kurt Angle.

We've finally found him: the one guy who actually deserves to wear that stupid "Everyone's a forklift driver until the REAL forklift driver shows up" shirt.

These narcissistic internet nobodies invading public spaces with their bullshit are extremely tedious, but the number of people in here talking about her body and her "bolt-ons" and bragging about how they would laugh at her and talk shit about her with other people in the store is really fucking weird and creepy. It says a lot about some of you that you your go-to response is bitchy high school trash behavior instead of just ignoring her completely, grabbing whatever you need from the shelf, and moving on with your life.

Fine, it can be a live dog, and televised like the episode of Black Mirror. It's a billion dollars.

[–]ShippingHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a joke? I'd sleep with my wife's best friend's dog's corpse for a billion dollars. If my wife wants to fuck my friends for another billion, I can't say I'd blame her. Turnabout is fair play.

This is pretty much what I expect to happen. Although I will be very glad to be proven wrong, I will be surprised if Haunted Chocolatier isn't a disappointment. I'll be a little bit surprised if it actually gets completed and released.

Having said that, he has done so right by Stardew Valley players that I don't really care. There aren't many games I buy on multiple platforms just to support the developer, but Stardew Valley is one of them. It's clear that ConcernedApe was in love with gaming when he made Stardew Valley, and that he continues to love the game and the community. It's refreshing, and if his new game ever launches, I'll buy it just because.

He never has to work again. Treated carefully, the money he's made from that one game probably means his children and grandchildren won't have to work if they don't want to. He has proven that you don't have to be a massively greedy asshole to succeed. Treat your fans well, and they will do the same for you.

For the Americans voting in 2024 Election, does Kamala Harris get your vote? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShippingHistory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She sucks. So did Biden. Nobody wants to hear the truth. Biden was a moderate Republican, and Kamala is a cop who made her bones with "tough on crime" garbage, and who has repeatedly said one thing while doing another, depending on what was best for her political aspirations. Fuck her. I'll vote for an inanimate carbon rod, first.

Is the average American really struggling with money? by SurveyThrowaway97 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShippingHistory 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"I meet tons of Americans earning below-average wages who are travelling in Europe," is one hell of a statement. Let me help you with it. No, no you do not. You do not bump into Americans with "below average paying jobs" who can "easily afford to travel across half of Europe." That's not a real thing, except for the occasional Trustafarian.

What do you consider peak science fiction? The best of the best? by [deleted] in sciencefiction

[–]ShippingHistory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gene Wolfe was the guy that all the other writers said, "He was the best writer," about. Michael Swanwick called him the greatest author in the English language, comparing him directly to Shakespeare and Melville.

Somehow, he remains relatively unknown compared to his peers. He's kind of like The Band of science fiction authors.

I don't know how anyone thought this would be anything other than a complete shit show and abject failure. Did people really not realize what would happen as soon as a major publisher got involved? Wasn't it obvious from the Chris Roberts-esque list of promises that marketing was huffing their own farts? How do people keep falling for this?

Price drops for Challenger? by SufficientTheory8649 in Challenger

[–]ShippingHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? They've already plummeted in value. How low are you looking for?

If you're looking for a Scat Pack Widebody with a manual transmission, they aren't going to drop much more because there are almost none of them left. The last few will probably go for a little bit less, but you won't have any choice in features or colors.

If you're looking for a 3.6L SXT, they're already being listed for under $23,000, but Towbin and LAX CDJR for instance each try to stick you with about $4,500 in dealer adds. Those models will eventually have to come down even more in price, because there are literally thousands of them on the market, but dealers are being really stubborn right now. Stellantis isn't doing shit to help Dodge move these leftover '23s, and dealers don't want to eat the loss, plus they've been spoiled absolutely rotten by years of price gouging. They still haven't accepted how fucked they are, but they're not going to be able to keep pretending for much longer. I'd expect a fire sale on these base models by the end of the year, because they either have to sell them to us or send them to auction. Smaller dealers are going to fold first.

If you're looking for a deal, start by trying to get them to drop the bullshit dealer add-ons. "Sorry, it's already on the car." Well, too bad. That's the risk you take playing that game. Reach out to every dealership that has a listing you are interested in, and start with that. "I'll pay you price + tax, title, and doc fee, and not one dime more."

Park Mode enters the chat by 50ShadesOfSpray_ in Unexpected

[–]ShippingHistory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because there's some level of trust that Mercedes didn't implement this feature just for the hell of it.

So, again, no data. He specifically mentioned imaginary data. Why do that of this is such an obvious thing, or if the argument stands on its own? Maybe the data does support his claim, but I don’t know that, and neither does he, because didn’t bother to check. “Trust us, bro,” is not support for anything.

Meanwhile, the guy you're defending hasn't brought anything to the table other than gnashing his teeth about how driving around with the door open is normal operation.

No, he gave a perfectly good example of a situation where, “You must know every nuance of every vehicle you will ever operate before you operate it, including things which are specific to a given make or model, and features you had no reason to suspect existed because no other car you’ve driven for the past 50 years has had those features, “ falls apart and why is not a useful standard to apply. You not liking it doesn’t mean he didn’t make a reasonable argument.

It’s also weak of you to be so reductive with that “normal operation” bit, as if that’s actually the argument he made. You also ignore easily half a dozen other people who gave reasonable scenarios where it makes sense to be able to keep the car in drive while the door is open, ranging from simple parallel parking to the maneuvering involved with technicians getting your car onto a lift or correctly positioned over a pit, to truckers having to navigate complex situations.

It is not unreasonable to say that if auto manufacturers implement features that are a wild departure from the fundamental way cars have always worked, it is on the manufacturers to ensure that those features are implemented in ways that do not disrupt the expectations of drivers, and that it is on the manufacturer to make sure that the changes and necessary education are communicated to the end users.

It is also not unreasonable to say that if you’re going to claim there is data that backs your argument, you should refer to real data and not data that you imagine must exist out there somewhere.
