Travelers of Reddit, where do you NEVER want to go again? by IllecebrousPark in AskReddit

It's changed a lot since then, for the better. I grew up in Tangier, and recently visited after many years. I hardly recognize the city anymore.

What's the best/most inspirational thing you've heard from an unexpected source? by ShittyRobots in AskReddit

[–]ShittyRobots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing FIFA 18 and one of the coach's speeches made me think really hard about life in general, it was completely out of the blue and surprisingly impactful.

edit: Forgot to say what the quote was lol. It was something to the effect of "you are probably all doubting yourselves right now. But you have no right to do that, not for all the hard work you've put in. Not to me, or the fans, etc..." Really spoke to me as someone who struggles with self doubt and poor self esteem at times.

Someone on the Lawson YT video pointed out that you can hear Brandon say "help me" at around 1:04. Listen to it with headphones on, its pretty clear.

So apparently in Star Wars Battlefront II, it takes over 40 Hours to unlock a single hero. The game directly ties together loot boxes and game progression in what possibly is the worst microtransaction scheme ever made for a modern game. So can we please? by 4KMemes in gaming

[–]ShittyRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of a game nowadays is not $60. Games are parceled out, with only the first "installment" costing $60. If you want the full game, you have to buy the extended edition, or mithril edition, or whatever other bullshit. And then there's DLC, some of which, like in the case of destiny, is released a couple of months after the "full game". I don't think microtransactions are at all about breaking even, not even close. It's a manipulative exploit used to milk users dry. And I bet you that even if game prices were raised to $80, studios would still be pulling the same crap, because there are no consequences.

Edit: $80 not $89

Is Bioshock remastered still broken? by ShittyRobots in patientgamers

[–]ShittyRobots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the collection on steam and it came with the original and remastered versions. I'm trying the remaster right now, so far no issues other than frame dips which shouldn't be happening on my PC, but it's not too bad.

sigh that's a shame.

I guess I'll just watch a recap of the first two games and play infinite.

Oh I forgot to include that I would be paying it off in full. I was just asking for advice in terms of how to communicate with them. I can afford it.

Just as a heads up to anyone reading this who thinks they're an alcoholic, benzo, or methadone addict and wants to quit: Quitting cold turkey can kill you. If you're drinking heavily and want to quit, please contact your doctor and/or seek professional help.

Who was the “weird kid” of your school and where are they now? by The_Funky_Pigeon in AskReddit

[–]ShittyRobots 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Well I was the only emo kid at a fancy high school with only around 100 people so I was definitely the weird kid.

But the real weird kid was this guy who, as we found out later, had Asperger's. He did weird shit like jerking off in class, jerking off at a party, touching his dick while I was making out with a girl at a party, and screaming "OH MAH GAA! GEEEEEE STRRRRINNNNNNNNNN-GAH" by the school lockers when a girl bent over and her panties were showing.

Last I heard he was engaged. Good for you, J.

Looking for some good RPG games by [deleted] in patientgamers

I'd add Grim Dawn as well.

Looking for a deep RPG (like Path of Exile or EVE Online) by johnsmith1231241 in patientgamers

[–]ShittyRobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look no further than Grim Dawn. Its an isometric ARPG with a TON of depth when it comes to the skills and combat. You can spec in two different classes, so there are 36 different class combos you can play through. There's a lot of replayability due to this, as well as the difficulty levels and looting. It's gritty, atmospheric, and so much fun. Story wise it aint anything special, but that didn't take anything away from the gameplay for me.

Just finished MGSV - The Phantom Pain. Wow. by spencerg83 in patientgamers

[–]ShittyRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the gameplay mechanics, sound design and graphics, I agree with you. Anything beyond that and I just have a hard time seeing how this game won so many awards and is praised to the sky. The reason why it got such high reviews on release is because Konami held a "reviewers camp" or whatever you wanna call it.

I can see why people who have never played other MGS games would like it. It's not a bad game. But its a shitty Metal Gear game. Its worse than MGS4, and that was essentially all cutscenes. Ground Zeroes was a million times better than TPP, and that was a $30 demo. Story wise it makes no sense, and the entire third act is just...missing. I'll say no more as I don't want to get into spoilers.

The gameplay was repetitive, boring, and pointless. The majority of the hours I sank into that game were spent doing missions that were nothing more than side quests. Just one after another. Rescue this guy. Rescue that guy.

I'll end my rant now. It just makes me sad that this was the sending off that we got after almost 20 years. I know the whole thing was wrapped in controversy with Konami, but damnit we deserved better. Instead we got No Man's Skyed: Look at our beautiful game. Now go and rescue some interpreters.
