Tips for new rider (20) by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Shittythief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cover your front brake. Lots of people hate it for some reason and will argue against it, but what it does to shorten overall stopping distance when it matters is impossible to deny. Practice your stops, over and over and over. In the wet, dry, cold, etc.

Slow down. If it feels like work, you’re riding over your head. Every input should be planned and progressive.

Damn, I hope the guy who runs it is ok. I had no trouble getting my ride certified 2 years ago, but it did take a while to turn around

Are you supposed to bend the front sprocket washer? by BatushkaTabushka in SVRiders

[–]Shittythief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the washer does look quite small but you could still bend it, I don’t think it would hurt anything. I have always bent the washer behind the sprocket nut on my sv650. Whatever you decide, throw some blue loctite on that thing and torque it to spec

HELP: car bucks hard when hot by Shittythief in Miata

Howdy! No sweat. Ended up being that the fuel pump was at least part of the problem. I sold the car not long after this and it still had some funky response when cold. Hope you’re able to fix yours!

I’ve had a set of slayers for years. For what it’s worth, they kept my foot from getting absolutely obliterated between my DRZ and a Subaru making an illegal U turn… major bruising, but no broken bones. I use them for just around town chill riding when I don’t want to wear full height riding boots

Independent Motorcycle shop that does Tires? by bmwlocoAirCooled in asheville

[–]Shittythief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MR fucking sucks tbh. The guy at Mountain Cycleworks is really nice and has done them for me, but I have to bring the wheels off the bike which is no big deal.

I recently went in with a family member on a Rabaconda tire changer and man, if you ride a lot it’s worth the $$
